Fall Beers, Yankees Baseball, and Jets Football

Well, fall has officially arrived and summer is now a distant memory. I hope all of you had an enjoyable summer and are ready for the turn of the season and fall to begin! As I have said in the past, summer is the prime bum wine season, but that doesn't mean that you can't enjoy your favorite bum wine this time of year as well. As the days start to get shorter and the winter chill starts to arrive, you can always grab a nice 40 to help get you through those tough days.

Goodbye summer. Hello fall.
With the arrival of fall, that means you will be seeing a plethora of fall beers invading your timeline and news feeds on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Prior to last year I was not on the fall beers bandwagon, but after having a few tasty beverages last fall, they got me to hop on board. Now don't get worried fellow bum wine fans, I'm not about to abandon the world of cheap alcohol and start drinking those fancy beers, but on some occasions it feels nice to drink something different for a change.

Shock Top Pumpkin Wheat
As most of you know, as soon as the month of September hits you start to see an influx of everything under the sun that is pumpkin related, and one of those most prominent things is beers. If you walk into any liquor store this time of year the shelves are filled with a variety of different pumpkin beers. Some of these are good and others are not so good. I do have to say that if you are just having a few beers and looking to unwind after a long work day, these are perfect beers for those types of days.

Beer and baseball.
Another sign of the change in season is the transition from baseball to football season. While we are almost four weeks into the NFL season at this point, it doesn't quite gain it's full steam until you near the end of the baseball season. Sadly, as I write this post it looks as if the New York Yankees will not be reaching the postseason for the second straight year. I was lucky to take in one of the last games of the season this past Saturday and was able to see one of Derek Jeter's final home games. Jeter is a class act and I wish him well in his retirement.

Thank you Captain!
With that being said, I want to take the time right now to extend an offer for Derek Jeter to join the Bumming With Bobcat team. If Jeter feels that retirement is getting too boring and he needs some more excitement in his life, we will welcome him here. Bum wine, beers, 40's, malt liquor? Derek, the offer is on the table and the ball is now in your court!

New York Jets Football!
Beers, burgers, babes, and football? That sounds like the perfect combination to me! Football season is now in full force, and as you might have seen last week I will now be giving you my picks for 7 NFL games every week. I ended up going 5-2 last week, which was a nice turnaround from my 2-5 result the week before.

It was all downhill from here.
J-E-T-S! I was in attendance at last nights New York Jets football game against the Chicgo Bears, which would have been better if the Jets could actually win the game and not let the fans down as always, but that's just another day in the life of a Jets fan. As long as you have some pre-game tailgating and drinks involved, it helps soften the blow of a Jets loss. I did make my way onto the jumbo tron at Metlife Stadium, so I guess that was the highlight of the night for me. Sadly I was not wearing the official BumWineBob.Com t-shirt at the time, as that would have blown the roof off the stadium that doesn't even have a roof to begin with!

Bum Wine Bob made it on the jumbo tron!
If you haven't noticed yet, or are viewing this site on your mobile device, there is a new section on the right side of the page that features some "Hot Topics". This is to make things easier to find some archives of your favorite topics, such as "Bum Wine Of The Week", "Guest Bloggers", "The Week In Bum Wine", and the new "The Lex Express Archives". I hope to be adding some more features in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for that!

Until next time, keep spreading the word. What's the word? Thunderbird!
