AEW Dynamite | Episode 20 | 2/19/20 | Atlanta, Ga. | State Farm Arena

AEW Dynamite Review 2-19-20
By: Maria Rose

Going into this week’s episode my thoughts were mostly on what is going to happen in the steel cage. Which was of course, one of the highlights of the show.

The show kicks off with the #1 Contender Tag Team Battle Royal. SCU, Private Party, Young Bucks, Jurassic Express, The Butcher and The Blade, Hybrid2, Best Friends, Santana & Ortiz, The Dark Order, and Strong Hearts.
This was a great match with a lot going on. I would’ve like to have seen Best Friends win this, but I knew they wouldn’t. My favorite part of the match was Orange Cassidy saving Trent from going over the top by putting him on his shoulders. The match comes down to The Young Bucks and Santana & Ortiz, when Sammy Guevara comes out to try and make sure The Young Bucks don’t win. Sammy attempts to get involved and gets super kicked by Matt into another realm. He even had to tweet that he in fact, didn’t die.
Young Bucks pick up the win after eliminating Santana, making them the #1 contenders to Hangman and Omegas Tag Team Championships.

Next match is Shanna vs Kris Statlander, with Britt Baker joining commentary. I liked this match and I love how strong Kris Statlander looks. Hope to see bigger things come her way in the future. She’s a powerhouse in the women’s division.

Tony interviews Nyla and Big Swole and Kris Statlander come out and both insinuate that they want a title match. I want to see it. All three are amazing competitors.

Next up is Jon Moxley vs Jeff Cobb. The Inner Circle come out with their “tickets” to watch the match. They both had a great match and not to my surprise a fantastic debut match in AEW for Jeff Cobb even though Moxley gets the win. After the match of course, Inner Circle attack Moxley, then Dustin comes out to help.
The lights go out and boom DARBY ALLIN comes out to massive, well deserved cheers as everyone’s happy he’s back. Especially me. He heads to the ring and starts taking everyone out with his skateboard. He clearly wants Sammy.
Moxley and Jericho have a little fight and Jericho leaves with his belt. Lots of storylines here going into Revolution.

Lucha Brothers vs Hangman Adam Page and Kenny Omega for the Tag Team Championships is up next. Great match. Definitely my favorite match of the night. Anytime Lucha Bros have a match it’s no doubt going to be exciting. Hangman and Omega win it and now that sets them up against The Young Bucks at Revolution.
With the tension brewing over in The Elite, I’m curious to see if Kenny will side with Hangman or The Young Bucks, I think The Young Bucks, but I don’t know for sure.

With the announcement of the AEW action figures, Kenny Omegas excitement seeing his action figure made you feel so happy for him!
His reaction was priceless. He deserves it.

Now for the Main Event. Wardlow vs Cody in a Steel Cage Match. Of course, this was the match I was looking forward to the most, storyline wise plus this is Warldlows debut match in AEW as well. They both did a great job in the cage and I’m impressed with Wardlow. He pulled out some good moves.
(I have to just add in that no one bleeds in matches more than Cody lately.)
Outside the cage had action as well. Arn hits MJF with the steel door, MJF starts to climb the cage and Brandi hits him with a chair, Arn tosses him into the crowd.
The match continues and Cody decides it’s time to climb up to the top of the very high steel cage and without even thinking he just does a moonsault off the top! Cody pins Wardlow and he will finally get MJF at Revolution.

I always say it, but you can really see Cody’s passion in or out of the ring. He’s one of a kind.
Even MJF looking up at him in shock that he just did what he did says a lot.
Now I must wonder, going forward does MJF really even need Wardlow anymore? Since he couldn’t get the job done after all.
Another great Dynamite in the books. Let’s see how the go home show for Revolution turns out! See you next week!
