IMPACT Wrestling "Rebellion" Night 2 Recap

IMPACT Wrestling "Rebellion" 4-28-20
Available on AXS TV and Twitch
By Dylan Hager

After a great first week of Rebellion, it's time for week two!

We start the show with a Rebellion video package. X Division action starts the show!

Suicide vs Chris Bey vs Rohit Raju vs Trey
The four picked sides early, as Rohit and Bey teamed up and Trey and Suicide teamed up. The teams did not last long before it broke down to every man for himself. Classic X Division action in this one with lots of fast paced offense. Bey continued to look good, as he has since his debut not too long ago. Trey really shown bright. Trey has had a great 2020 in the ring. Bey picked up the pin on Rohit after a kick to the back of the head. Kinda flat finish, but a solid match. Winner: Chris Bey

Josh and Madison show highlights from Rebellion Night One last week.

Next Josh interviews Tessa over "Facetime." The World Champ was not able to make it to Rebellion thanks to Corona. Tessa says she would love to shut Elgin up, but unless he comes to Mexico, she cannot do that right now.

We get a hype package for Cousin Jake vs Joseph P. Ryan.

Joseph P. Ryan vs Cousin Jake
Jake Something vs Joey Ryan would be a huge indie match. I'm excited for this match! Cousin Jake showed off his strength advantage early. Cousin Jake went shoulder first into the post, allowing Joseph to take control.  Ryan targeted the shoulder throughout the match. Jake made a comeback and hit a big dive to the outside. Jake hit a powerbomb for a near fall. Ryan went back to the shoulder and landed a superkick for a two count. Ryan rolled up Jake and held onto the ropes for the win. Good match, but it would have been better with a crowd. Oh well, they made the best of their circumstance. Winner: Joseph P. Ryan

Rosemary is backstage facetiming Taya. Rosemary talks about replacing Taya in Full Metal Mayhem. Taya makes up a ton of excuses for missing the show. Taya says if Rosemary wins, she'll take her to Sin City.

Full Metal Mayhem: Havok vs Rosemary
Jordynne Grace defending her title against Taya in Full Metal Mayhem was originally scheduled for the show, but neither Taya or the Champ could make the show. Rosemary broke out the staple gun early, but Havok took control of the staple gun and went after Rosemary. Chairs, a chain, metal signs, and a trash can were all involved in this match. Rosemary used a hard hat to block a trash can shot and take control of the match. Havok choke slammed Rosemary onto two chairs for a two count. Somebody named "Neveah" came out to ringside, which is a huge no-no during Corona season. Rosemary hit Havok twice with a steel pipe to get the win. As a longtime TNA/IMPACT fan, if you want to nitpick, this was more Monsters Ball than Full Metal Mayhem, but that is being extremely critical. Neveah didn't get involved in the match. Not Rosemary or Havok's best match, but it was decent enough. Winner: Rosemary

Willie Mack and Rich Swann interview backstage. Willie puts over past X Division Champs like AJ, Joe, Daniels, Sabin, and Rich Swann. Swann puts over Willie, and Swinger interrupts. Swinger reminds them that Willie owes Swinger a title shot.

This weeks IMPACT Plus Flashback Moment of the Week is Rich Swann vs Sami Callihan from last years Rebellion ppv.

Mike Elgin interview from earlier today. Big Mike says he is disappointed that he won't be sending Tessa and Eddie to the hospital, but he says he will still become World Champ tonight.

Big Mike made his way to the ring dressed to wrestle. Elgin talks about debuting at last years Rebellion and his desire to be World Champ. He wants the ref to come down and declare him the winner since Tessa and Eddie are not there. He makes David Penzer announce him as the new World Champ, but Penzer is cut off by Moose. Moose is wearing the old TNA World Title. Moose claims to be the TNA World Champ. Moose and Elgin start arguing, but Hernandez comes out. Hernandez talks about being in TNA. Hernandez challenges both Moose and Elgin to a fight, and I think we have a triple threat match.

Michael Elgin vs Moose vs Hernandez
All three big men take turns getting their offense in. Elgin was the first man to get a real advantage. Moose and Hernandez evened it up. Hernandez went up top, but was cut off by Moose. Moose hit a superplex, and Elgin followed up with a top rope splash on Moose. Back from a commercial break, Hernandez takes control of the match. He gets a near fall of Elgin after a big boot. Moose, who was dressed like the Ultimate Warrior, did the Warrior shoulder blocks and splash on Hernandez for a two count. Moose and Elgin exchanged strikes before Moose hit the Go to Hell for a near fall. Hernandez picked up a near fall on Moose after a pounce. Elgin hit Moose with a pop-up powerbomb and buckle bomb, but Moose came right back with the No Jackhammer Needed. Hernandez sent Moose out of the ring. Elgin hit the Buckle Bomb and Elgin Bomb on Hernandez, but Moose pulled the ref out of the ring. Elgin took out the ref. A second ref came out, but Hernandez hit a dive on both Elgin and the new ref. Hernandez sent Moose and a ref into the ring, but Moose hit No Jackhammer Needed on Hernandez for the win. Very sloppy in spots, but overall a pretty good match. Winner: Moose

Pretty good episode of IMPACT this week. Felt like something was missing, but that something was probably just the crowd. Did Moose jump Eddie and Elgin in line for a title shot? I guess we'll find out!
