I have a huge habit of eyeing wrestlers that are trained by Amazing Red. Even before knowing they were trained by Red I can see his proteges. When I finally met Amazing Red I had to thank him and tell him that not only was I a fan of his but I was a fan of who he has made.
I first saw Charles Mason at High Intesity 8, from House of Glory (HOG). He won a suicidal six way match that included Brian Burgundy, Leroy Greet, Matt Macintosh, Nolo Kitano and Rich Swann. In doing so, he earned the H.O.G Suicidal title.
I can't imagine what it's like to wrestle the guy that trained you in the business. Mason did exactly that at H.O.G Nine. Unfortunately, the master defeated the student that day, ending Mason's 120 day reign as Suicidal Champion. I'm a huge fan of high flying cruiserweight matches and this match had so much to like. My favorite moment in the match is when Amazing Red climbed to the top turnbuckle, and Mason running towards him, spitting champagne in his face.
Side note: If you've never attended an H.O.G show - and when things get back to normal, do yourself a favor and catch a show. Really intense crowd.
I spent all weekend in NJ on Thanksgiving. I attended three different promotions that weekend - one, Violence & Suffering, I had never attended before. There were a ton of wrestlers from H.O.G on the show, and I wanted to show them some support.
The event, VxS 4 Da Children - The Matt Travis Tribute Show, was honoring the late Matt Travis. While the reason for us all being there was to honor Matt, the group of wrestlers made it an enjoyable night. You could sense the wrestlers were putting everything into their matches, and that effort creates a really fun atmosphere - one match that stood out to me was the main event.
J. Lyon, Ken Broadway, Midas Black & Nolo Kitano defeated Mason, Chris Seaton, Evander James and Smooth Blackmon. For whatever reason, I'm obsessed with Mason's "Bank Roll,".
The night ended with all the wrestlers sitting in the ring talking about Matt.
EDITORS NOTE: Matt Travis was killed while he rode his bike on a bike path in East Harlem at around 2:30 AM on Saturday, November 9th, 2019. He was struck by a dump truck who was making an illegal left u-turn on the road as he attempted to get onto the Willis Avenue Bridge.
Mason has been really fun to watch in Synergy Pro Wrestling. I've mentioned it before, but his three-way with Kasey Catal and John Silver at Tommorow Comes Today is one of my favorite matches. If you haven't seen it yet, you really should check it out. I know there is a lot of dislike for heel v. heel matches, but Mason and Silver fit the bill, here. I just love how they work off of each other.
Mason's character is starting to evolve and it's something really fun to watch - I'm invested in seeing where it all goes.
PPW (Pennsylvania Premiere Wrestling) is a bucket list independent promotion I want to see live. I do catch some matches on their youtube channel. The Mason and Evander James story was great. Wrestling against each other and then teaming up. I was looking forward to seeing Mason and James teaming up to face Mane Event. I loved watching the back and forth on twitter/facebook with these guys.
“The pleasure is all yours”- Charles Mason
I can truly say that the pleasure is all mine when dealing with the billionaire playboy. There is a reason why he is on my “List Of Husbands,”.
Keep an eye on this up and comer!
