New South Pro Wrestling presents Action Clash Episode 9
Event Air Date: November 10, 2020
Event Venue: The Furniture Factory in Huntsville, AL
Available on demand via IWTV.live
Now is the time for New South’s tag team division to step up! Episode 9 of Action Clash heavily focuses on who’s next in line to face Dy-Lan and 2 Fly Ty for the New South Tag Team Championship titles. Six of the promotion’s best teams competed in a gauntlet match at the beginning of the episode to determine the contenders, and the results may surprise you! We also get to see the return of Jaden Newman this week, and this episode’s main event gets all of the roster involved in the long-standing feud between Chris Chrunk and Brett Ison as they square off against each other in a Lumberjack Match.
As if this wasn’t enough quality ass-kicking entertainment, don’t forget that this Thursday night at 7 pm CST/8pm EST IWTV will live stream New South’s The Saga Continues!
On Commentary: Mose and Brandon Williams
Solid commentary work once again this week from a new pairing! Mose and Brandon were great at calling all of the hectic action in the tag team gauntlet match as well as the craziness of the lumberjack match in the main event. I like the idea of a 'revolving door' commentary team more and more for New South instead of just having two permanent people at the table. We've been getting a lot of different personalities commentating matches and not once has it been a dull moment.
Match 1: Tag Team Gauntlet for #1 Contender
Kris McInnis/I Am Sam vs. Talladega Knights (Tyler Franks and Hunter Drake)
Sam put some effort into this opening part of the match, but when it came time for McInnis to tag in, he easily gave the match up to the Knights. Sorry about it, Sam.

Talladega Knights vs. Dojo Boyz (Erron Wade and Leo)
Hardest fought part of the match with both teams very deserving to be the contenders! The Knights come through with the win after impressive teamwork from Hunter and Tyler.

Talladega Knights vs. Steven Michaels and Adam Priest
If Steven Michaels and Adam Priest thought the Knights would be easily picked off after defeating the Dojo Boyz, they were wrong! The win went to the Talladega Knights here, but Michaels and Priest made sure they were weakened enough in a post-match attack.

Talladega Knights vs. Petty in Pink
It was easy enough for Kenzie Page to get the pin on Hunter Drake after the Knights were beaten down moments before she and Dillon McQueen hit the ring. The Petty ones were fresh and ready for the last part of the gauntlet.
Petty in Pink vs. The Ladykillerz
The final moments of this match started out fun enough with an impromptu dance contest, but things got real pretty quick for both teams. Petty in Pink proved that they’re worthy of their spot, though, by defeating Bailey Blake and Daniel Perez and earning their chance to take on 2 Fly Ty and Dy-Lan for the tag team championship. Find out how that turns out this Thursday night on IWTV!

Match 2: Jaden Newman vs. Derek Neal
This was a damn good match! Jaden Newman brought his best game to this one, even with the threat of Adam Priest looming on the outside of the ring as “support” for Neal. It’s been a minute since we’ve seen Jaden on Action Clash, but he hasn’t missed a beat in the New South ring. Derek Neal had a number of moments where he absolutely dominated in this match, but it was good to see Jaden staying in there and delivering some solid offense of his own right back at Neal. If only it weren’t for that damned Steven Michaels. He was conspicuous by his absence at the beginning of the match, and just when we thought we were safe he pops up near the finish to cause a distraction to Jaden and allow Derek Neal to take the advantage and get the win. Big showing from Jaden Newman, though, and I was glad to see him back this episode.

Main Event: Chris Crunk vs. Brett Ison (Lumberjack Match)
There are few current feuds in independent wrestling that are as savage as this one. Crunk vs. Ison is a damn fun fight every time because these two absolutely wreck it in the ring. This time they have the New South roster on the outside to join in on their fun, and this main event was one of the more memorable Crunk/Ison battles thanks to the lumberjacks getting involved throughout the match. When we weren’t seeing the ADS run in the ring to try to run interference, the Pitbull and Mr. Nothing to Lose had one sick-ass fight.
This was fantastic...but it couldn't take the Pitbull out though!#ActionClash @chriscrunk @KOBK4ever @NewSouth_PW pic.twitter.com/pUIJqobSG5

Maybe in hindsight Shean Christopher and Kevin Ryan should have left well enough alone. They set off the chain of events, after all, that distracted the referee and cost their boy Chris Crunk the match...when Crunk actually had the match won! In my opinion, the ADS is an example of too many chiefs running things. You’ve got all of the guys so involved with themselves individually now that they don’t have that same team synergy that they used to, and the result of that was Ison’s humiliating defeat of Crunk in the end.

It’s no wonder Crunk was so damn passionate about one last challenge for Ison in Hanceville - the Akuto Death Match. We’re all going to get to see what happens when Chris Crunk and Brett Ison go to war in the JC Arena this Thursday night on IWTV!
Post-Show Thoughts
What I enjoy about the Chris Crunk/Brett Ison conflict is that new fans can get on board with it immediately. If you’re just tuning into the show for the first time and see these two guys going to battle in the ring, you can just tell by watching them that there’s some bad blood between those blows. I’m hoping that as time passes more fans revisit this feud and see how well done it was. Speaking of time passing, I’m glad I gave myself time to let Petty in Pink grow on me as a tag team. I’d been impressed with Kenzie Page for the longest as a singles competitor, but she and Dillon McQueen have a pretty charismatic alliance going on that I can get behind. Granted, they’re not on the level of my boy Dy-Lan (and to some extent 2 Fly Ty), but Petty in Pink sure the hell earned their place as contenders for the gold.
See you on the hashtag Thursday for The Saga Continues! Don’t miss the show; it starts at 7pm CST on IWTV. I promise you, it’s a great time!
