Indie Wrestling News Wire: Getting to know ... Armani Kayos

Written by Don Halliwell

Since first seeing Armani Kayos in Limitless at Pandemic at the Dojo I have continuously been wanting to see more of him, as he is such a charismatic and original wrestler.  Armani is one of a kind and is not afraid to tell you that.  In his debut he teamed up with Love, Doug, but has more recently been teaming with Paris Van Dale forming The Higher Society.  The Higher Society has had impressive matches against top tag teams like Anthony Greene & Ava Everett and  Waves and Curls.  They came up on the losing end of those matches, but in season 2 of The Road they were able to defeat one of the top tag teams in independent wrestling today, the Sea Stars.  Armani has also found some success in singles competition, after falling to Dangerkid in the first season of The Road, he followed that up with victories over CJ Cruz and Mike Gamble.

Even though I may be a lower, the Kaytastic One agreed to answer some questions from me about his extremely unique moves, his love for the Divas and forming The Higher Society.

Don: Since your debut a lot of people have been talking about your moves and how creative they are, especially Death by Bella.  Can you let us know how you came up with them and if there are some more on the horizon?

Armani: I'm someone who definitely likes to be innovative, so although I incorporate a lot of "divas moves" into my wrestling I do try and use them differently. The death by Bella Twin was a move that was actually given to me by your favorite Icon Ava Everett and  Ms. Davienne during one of our training sessions. Other stuff I do like the spin kick in the corner into the head-scissor just comes with me trying shit out while training. I have a whole list of things I want to try so who knows the possibility of unique moves is endless.

Don: In your Limitless debut you teamed with Love, Doug but have been teaming with Paris Van Dale since forming the Higher Society.  How did the 2 of you end up as a team and why do you think you 2 work so well together?

Armani: Teaming with Love, Doug in my debut match for limitless was pretty fun, and we got to get the win so who knows maybe we’ll see more Doug and Armani in the future. As for Paris and I, we have legit been Best friends for as long as I can remember. You see our parents were besties so becoming a tag team was a no-brainer and although I’m 4 years older the bond we have is stronger than ever!

Don:  You had had some really good matches so far in your career, but my favorite was definitely Higher Society against the Sea Stars.  What was it like to get a win over such an established tag team like the Sea Stars?

Armani: The match between the Sea Stars and Paris and I was great because I’m sure people saw that and just expected us to lose, but it was absolutely amazing that we were able to get the win over them because it just goes to show that although we look amazing we can kick ass while looking bomb.com!! The haters gonna hate but trust and believe the higher's gonna ball.

Don: From your move set it is pretty obvious that you were influenced by the divas.  Was it shows like Total Bellas that got you into wrestling or were you a fan before then and what do you say to those who dismiss the Diva’s contribution to wrestling?

Armani: Yes I love the divas !!!! I started watching in 2014 but didn’t officially declare myself a fan of wrestling till November of 2014 around the time Nikki Bella became Divas champion. I was a big fan of Total Divas I DONT think I would’ve gotten into wrestling if it weren’t for Total Divas. As for people who dismiss the diva's contributions to wrestling I honestly have no words for them they are entitled to their own thought, but I hope they know that they are cray cray cause them girlies were Poppin.

Don: There are some other wrestlers in the independent scene who were heavily influenced  by the divas like Candy Lee and Jaime Senegal.  Are those people you would like to face or possibly team with in the future?

Armani: I’m instantly a fan of anyone who recognizes the epic-ness of the Divas/ women in wrestling. I’m always down to wrestle people who share that love for them as much as I do though.

Don: For those who are not extremely familiar with you can you describe Armani Kayos, and how similar is the Armani Kayos that we see in the ring to the person that you are in your day to day life?

Armani: For those of you that don’t know Armani Kayos is very flashy and enjoys the spotlight. He doesn’t care what people think/ say about him because he knows that at the end of the day he’ll always get what he wants. And that’s on Period! Armani Kayos is pretty much an over-the-top version of myself. I will say that we are pretty much the same as far as the lifestyle we both love to live that boujee life so there's that.

Don: What is next for Armani and where can we find your matches?

Armani: I guess the next thing for me is just getting more and more out there. I'd love to get to wrestle down south or even on the west coast but, I'm truly aiming to have everyone hate the fact that they just love me. Most of my matches can be found on Youtube. and as for seeing me on Limitless you can catch it on IWTV on Wednesdays and for Chaotic you can watch as Higher Society takes over every Thursday on twitch.
