The Krude Experience - Dr. Music

Dr. Music

A Krüde blog doesn’t just write itself. It takes plenty of sordid, mental stimulation and even more physical stimulation to create one blog (or more). My fingers begin to massage a keypad. My brain leaves its excess baggage at the west side station. And I’m off. To see the Wizard. The wonderful wizard of blog.

*Shit. I’m lame today. Excess bourbon consumption was yesterday

Music, as you may have heard, plays an important part in my life. Music soothes my soul enough to make me want to hear more. And experience it in person.

Enter the mighty musical band: Blue Öyster Cult.

BÖC has been playing music and making records since before Watergate and video games. Their main members these days are Eric Bloom and Buck Dharma, who have been with the band all the while. Almost 50 FUCKING YEARS of playing music together. That’s an impressive feat. More impressive has been the quality of music (new album is awesome) and the rocking nature of their live shows.

Which brings me to a recent BÖC gig I witnessed. Here is my take on it:

BÖC was booked to play an outdoor show in Dickson City, PA at a drive-in theater. Sounds good. But it rained all day. Making the grounds at the drive very muddy in a Woodstock kind of way. The temperature was in the 40s. With winds that come with being in a higher elevation. These distractions didn’t keep BÖC from playing the show. They came on stage with a misty rain hitting their faces. And something to prove to the world: The Old Gods have returned. In the rain. At a drive-in theater. Shit. I felt bad for them.

The band sounded great. They played songs from their entire career. I snapped a few photos. And jotted down a setlist. The drive-in concert experience was cool. Booze prices were reasonable. And parking my car near the stage was something I’ve never done before. So here are the nerd stats for you:
