One Day

This time of year (end
of summer) really gets under my skin. Not the sticky weather. Or back to school
hysteria. The USA has a holiday called Labor Day. It lasts for
exactly 24 hours. It creates a three day weekend at the beginning of September for
working stiffs. ONE FUCKING DAY A YEAR TO CELEBRATE THE WORKING CLASS. Doesn’t
that make you want to puke?
In some European countries, vacation time comes in the form
of a minimum of 6 weeks per calendar year. In my home state of New Jersey,
labor laws don’t require employers to grant ANY vacation time to employees. Or
sick days. Or personal days. Or even a 15 minute lunch break. Nothing. Zilch.
No breaks for you. EVER!
One day a year to give back to the hard working people who
really make this country hum is a travesty. Treating the working class like serfs
and paying them reduced salaries (to maximize profit margins) isn’t
American. Or maybe it is…
The wealthy people of this country aren’t necessarily
smarter than me and you. They have luck and good connections towards success on
their side.We don’t need them to dictate what is best for Us. If
something ain’t right about your working situation, speak up! No job is worth
eating shit to make a shitty wage. WE make them THEIR $. Never forget that….
Three day weekends ain’t enough!
