The Krude Experience - Davy The Goliath

Davy The Goliath

Being the natural nomad that Krüde is, I often find interesting places to go on the fly. Then there are times I drive past certain roadside landmarks and say to myself “I should really try out that place….next time”.  Most of the time that ‘next time’ doesn’t take place. For whatever reasons. This time I had a good reason to stop at Davy’s Hot Dogs along Route 80 West in New Jersey. My chick just had a doctor visit and was kinda cranky. But she will never turn down a quality wiener. Believe me 😉

Davy’s Hot Dog joint was established in 1982. I have driven by the road signs for this place at least 1000 times, and never once stopped to try it. Must admit my bad miscalculation when assessing this place. The hot dogs they serve are Sabrett brand (with natural casings). With top level toppings (awesome chili and cheese for me). Loved them. Onion rings that were fresh and crispy (and not pre salted to death). And the real kicker here: beer on tap. We both had Sam Adams Summer Ale. Excellent pairing with our lunch time hot dogs. Hot damn!

The overall ambiance of Davy’s hearkens back to a time before I twas born. It is a woodsy kind of log cabin feel inside of Davy’s. The building itself is a cool relic of a yesteryear. This is not fine dining. It is fucking FINE ASS DINING. No need to put on your Sunday clothes. Beer is cold. Kids are welcome. Don’t throw away the plastic french fry baskets. Thank you

When traveling by car for longer distances, always stop to take a look around towns and areas you are not familiar with. Some of the coolest places you’ll ever encounter are found. No need for a Google search or GPS recommendation. Fuck that. Check for the amount of vehicles in a parking lot or the line of people waiting in line for something. Tip well and enjoy. Cheers!

Lost in the sauce….again,
