Damn. Krüde does love him some Kinks music.
This tune Low Budget has been in my music collection for over 4 decades.
Yet, the meaning and lyrics of the song never hit home before. But now is now.
And that was then. I’m living lower on the hog now and still being Krüde.
Having money isn’t all that. Don’t be fooled.
If I’m going to write a blog about being frugal, then I must explain
distinct samples of my current frugality. For starters, no more spontaneous
journeys to hedonistic bliss locations i.e. AC, Vegas, NOLA. Now, I lay
down at home and listen to obscene amounts of high definition music. Forget
about running up tabs at clubs and bars with booze and various sundries. Or
entertaining a chick on random nights at pricey restaurants. Again, I stay home
and swallow wicked THC/CBD
infused gummies. And drift away……keeping my wallet heavier.
So how did I get to this fiscal conundrum? Well…. It isn’t
from lack of trying or working. I earn wampum in traveling sales. Wholesale
cabinetry to be exact. These days, consumer confidence on making larger ticket
purchases has been reduced to record lows. Way less people can justify
renovating a kitchen or bathroom with new cabinetry due to awful international
trade practices by current elected officials. My usual five figure monthly take
has been reduced to near poverty levels as of late. I have almost thrown in the
towel and applied to work at a nearby fast food joint for minimum wage. I would
save on fuel, tolls, meals, clothes etc…I could eat for free (or greatly
discounted) while flipping burgers or stuffing tacos. No shame in that line of
work. It’s the required uniform I would have to wear that would be soul crushing.
Nobody tells Krüde what to wear. Ever.
Finding bargains is a current obsession with this author.
But the products I seek out for less have to be items that I really want. I buy
digital movies from Amazon for $4.99, instead of renting the movie for
$3.99. Normal price for an HD download movie on Prime is $14.99. So
getting 66% off is always a treat.
Shit. Life will take you places that you could never have expected to go to. Just roll with it. Relax. Be respectful and vigilant. And be sure your bullshit detector has fresh batteries in it. Mahalo.
