Top 10 Independent Wrestlers

Top 10 Independent Wrestlers
Ranked by Dennis DuBay

1. Warhorse - Currently the IWTV Independent Wrestling Champion

Since adopting the “Warhorse” moniker, Formerly known as Jake Parnell, has been one of the hottest rising superstars on the indy scene. Warhorse defeated Erik Stevens for the IWTV belt on 9/21 and momentum has been on his side since.

2. Chris Dickinson

Dickinson has the look of a superstar. He continues to dominate in his matches as of late after suffering a defeat at the hands of Josh Barnett at Bloodsport 2. Dickinson handed Wheeler Yuta a defeat at Uncharted Territory, this past week. Mentioned he’s having issues with back and sciatic pains - hopefully this isn’t something that’ll slow him down.

3. Kris Statlander

What can you say about Statlander that hasn’t already been said? She’s uh .. out of this world. Her work in ring is in a class of it’s own right now. Only Tessa Blanchard, in my opinion, is ahead of the West Islip, NY native. She’s just fluid in the ring. She’s one of those talents that If i know she’s on the card, it’s a quality show.

4. Alex Zayne

Zayne would be higher if not for always making me hungry peddling his damn Taco Bell gimmick! Note to Zayne: Del Taco is where it’s at my friend. Get the Epic Steak and Potato burrito and then thank me later. Zayne has captured quite the following with his persona and keeps them all satisfied in the ring.

5. Timothy Thatcher - wXw Unified World Champion.

Thatcher defeated Bobby Gunns on 10/5 to take the wXw belt, the next day he successfully defeated Jonathan Greshem in his first defense of the title. Thatcher made headlines earlier in the year with an amazing wrestling match with Davey Boy Smith Jr. and has been on a roll since then.

6. David Starr

Starr is having a banner year in 2019, picking up 62 victories. He’s flawless. A wrestlers wrestler and cares about the business, pushing the narrative of safety and responsibility for promoters. And that’s something to stand by him for. But you don’t get on this top 10 unless you bring it - and he brings it, every time he’s in the ring.

7. Tony Deppen - CHIKARA Campeonatos de Parejas Champion

It’s impossible for me to not bring up the fact that Deppen is a resident of Shamokin, Pennsylvania. Never heard of Shamokin? Well fans, do i have a treat for you:

Anyways, Deppen has won his last four matches, and doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

8. Allysin Kay - NWA Women’s World Champion

Pinky’s up mother fuckers. Classy and Kick Assy? Maybe that’s a t-shirt concept waiting to happen. She also holds the Shine Champion, and one of the faces of the new NWA. With tv starting this week for NWA Power, look for Kay to start climbing higher in the rankings and becoming a true force in the scene.

9. Jake Atlas - APW Universal Champion

Atlas is coming off a victory over Pentagon Jr, Rey Fenix and Shawn Spears. Yeah, you read that right. Honestly, he’d be higher up the list if it wasn’t for the fact he’s dropped his last two matches. Expect big things from Jake.

10. Solo Darling

Darling is one of the best women’s wrestlers going right now. A powerhouse who can bounce in between women’s wrestling and intergender wrestling with ease. I really feel 2020 is going to be a breakout year for Darling.
