NWA Power | Episode 10 | A hero and a villain emerge"

This was possibly top three in the best of NWAPowerrr - would have been #1 had Allysin Kay been featured more. Come on, Lagana. Give me what I want. That aside, this was a very strong show, directing us to where we are headed, leading to “Hard Times” on January 24th, 2020. The fact that Cody Rhodes didn’t trademark that for PPV is surprising. But I’ve got an inkling that All Elite Wrestling and the NWA have some sort of working agreement in place. Why else would the NWA kill it’s deal with ROH as they were heading into their first set of tapings? There had to be a reason. Billy Corgan had a big hand in the success of ALL IN as the NWA title was featured prominently in the PPV that really set the stage for AEW to exist. And what better way to establish a brand that desires to be not only what the current fan wants, but give it some heritage to back up the qualifications, but to work with the oldest governing body of professional wrestling.  Add into the mix the surprise appearance of “The Villain” Marty Scurll and you have to wonder … What’s going on here.

Think about what a working relationship would look like. You’d get an established brand (forget the fact that the NWA has been forgotten by many, it’s still an established brand). Can you not see Sean Spears in the NWA with his mentor Tully Blanchard? Or Cody and Dustin, back in the thick of an NWA title hunt to put the Rhodes name back on the NWA map?

Maybe my drunken mind is just fantasy booking right now, but I believe that there is something to all this. And it’s exciting to think about what may be in the plans.

One thing is for sure. We have our villain, we have our hero … and while we’re unsure who they are, right now, they are present. So who or what is the monster?

Some Thoughts About The Show

Aron Stevens bores the shit out of me. The Question Mark needs to dispose of this pipsqueak quick.

Thunder Rosa playing second fiddle to Melina is not my jam. Ashly Vox attacks Rosa and tries to get her revenge from the attack at Into The Fire, but that plan backfires quickly. Thankfully, for Vox, Allysin Kay and ODB save Vox from pancake valley.

Replay of Anderson/Drake melee after their match at Into The Fire. They'll have a non dq match later in the show.

Cracks in the Melina/Thunder Rosa/Marti Bell team are starting to form, as Melina and Rosa are pissed at Belle for not helping them out earlier.

There'll be a TV Tournament. With the championship culminating at the PPV, every match is only 6:05 - no winner n the match, both eliminated.

Sal Rinauro v. CW  Anderson v. Zicky Dice - play in match to get into the tournament. Anderson looks fucking amazing. I've never heard of this Dice character, which isn't a bad thing. He has ano old 80's look to him, with the exception of the tattoo's. Guy is full of fucking energy, I'll tell you that much. Bummed that Anderson won't move on, but hopeful he's back with the company. Dice moves on to the tournament.

The Dawson's are out and their very annoyed. Wildcards heard enough and are out with a chair.

Marty Scurll interview after Into The Fire. Cuts a promo on Aldis, tells the crowd not to boo Aldis, but that he took him to the best match of his career - he didn't get the job done, but feels like, deep down in his heart, he can beat Aldis. He's frustrated that he's not become World Heavyweight champion yet, in his career.

"What am I doing? Honestly, I don't know. The only thing i'm concerned with is becoming Champ." He'll fight Aldis anytime anyplace. Just wants his chance.

There will be an exclusive interview with him later in the show.

Eddie Kingston out for commentary. Ask's Galli if he's ever been punched in the face. He's not very happy today, after getting grilled about Homicide's health.

Rock n Roll Express v. Zach Mosley & Sean Sims

The Mosley/Sim's combination is a pretty strange combo - but man, what a chance they've been given here. Both natives of Ge... and it's over. RnR Express make it a very short contest.

Galli interviews RNR Express. "We built this city on NWA Wrestling" Morton says. Name drops The Midnight Express, The Horseman, Rhodes and T.A. .. boasts about being 9 time champs. Galli brings up Aldis .. to a tag team, interesting question. Morton gives him the seal of approval. When asked if he's one of the best of all time "You can't compare yourself to Race or Flair". Gibson senses this as a clickbait con job by Galli, and gets the team the fuck out of there.

Wildcards v. The Dawsons

Just a slobberknocker of a brawl. Wildcard pick up the win and then destroy

JOSEPHUS CLAUS IS HERE. How many paychecks does he pull from the NWA? He and Orange Santa get into a very HEATED argument.

James Storm is battered but not beaten. He's not done fighting. He is pissed and believes he was screwed over. Says if shit keeps happening, he's gonna turn back to the "old Me" ...

Dice is back baby! Time to find out who's in the TV Tournament.

Ricky Starks. Colt Cabana, Trevor Murdoch, Tom Blackbeard, The Question Mark (loudest pop), Eddie Kingston, Tim Storm, Both Dawsons, ... and Nick Aldis?

Former NWA World TV Champion NIKITA KOLOFF!!! He'll be pulling names for the matches.

Qualifying matches for next week's show.
Ricky Starks v. Eddie Kingston, Kingston just whispered sweet nothings
Colt Cabana v. The Question Mark - Colt is fucked.

Aldis and Starks are with Marquez. Aldis says the devil is in the details, you better be willing to show the same commitment. Why does Aldis want to be entered into the tourney: There are no challengers left for his belt. He wants to make history. Wants to be the first to hold the World and TV title simultaneously. Says Starks is a high caliber star, would be his draft pick. He may just have a shot to make it to the finals to lose to Aldis.

On Marty coming down at Into The Fire ... "Children, the grownups are talking. My comment on Scurll insinuating his place in Aldis's business: "No comment". Says Scurll is nothing but a bandwagon jumper, looking to get rich off Aldis work. Calls the talent in the back ham sandwiches. And now i'm hungry.

On Ricky Morton's comment: "Didn't hear em’, but will go back and listen."

On Kamille: "Let me make this unequivocally clear, I've realized I need more than an insurance policy, I need a real team.

Marty Scurll Interview.

“I want to be unique, I want to keep the fans guessing. The truth is, the first opportunity was Into The Fire, the NWA is important to me, as it's what I watched as a kid. I don't like anyone to assume anything about me. Most of the guys ... all of the guys didn't even know I was here. I need to do different things to stand out.”

Bennett says he's being vague. He agrees.

"It's been something that's hung over my head. I've never been world champion. The best place to be is to be where the REAL world title is."

Main Event (Tim Storm joins commentary)

Drake v. Anderson

Drake is losing his voice. I don't trust anyone that loses their voice. Drake is pissed that he's not in the TV tourney. Fans agree, he should be in it. Fans have become Eli fans all of a sudden. When did this happen?

Anderson is now uber heat heel. Man, this fandom is so fickle! Hot and heavy start with haymakers all around. You know, Anderson is still a really decent wrestler - Going into 2019, I never thought I'd ever say that. But I'm really enjoying his work in 2019. Drake has really found a nice groove in the NWA as well. No DQ, so Anderson is dragging Drake up the stands, gonna beat the shit out of him all over the studio. I'm watching Powerrr and Dark at the same time and Statlander v. Priestly are wrestling and I've .. I'm having a hard time concentrating. I mean, I'd marry either of them or both, I'm okay with that.

Anderson still pummeling Drake. Drake gets control and takes a selfie with Anderson as Anderson is getting his handed.. wait, now Anderson is back in control and Anderson drills a fence door into Drake. FANS ARE IRATE!!! Anderson throws Drake into the steel steps. Grabs a chair. NOT ANOTHER CHAIR ANDERSON. Tries to drive Drakes face into a steel chair, but Drake block it, hits him with it instead. Was going to take him out with it, but changes his mind.

DRAKE WINS AND IS NOW A BABYFACE!!!!

Aldis is out now. He's pissed at Storm. I must have missed something. Tells Storm his time has come and gone, needs to shut up about Aldis. It's like the Megapowers exploding over here. Storm challenges him to a fucking fight right now. Aldis is taking off his suit. Shoving ensues. Suited and Booted. Latimer and comes out and attacks Storm. Guess we know who the team Aldis talked about, is. Poor Tim Storm.

Kamille is out! She's pissed at Aldis. Then spears Storm. What in the fuck is going on. She smiles that dastardly, beautiful smile.  Wait. Then she makes out with Latimer.

The beat down continues. Aldis yells to the refs to take the trash out. Getting that strap off of Aldis just got a LOT HARDER.

INTO THE FIRE!
