Name Game
Nothing sucks worse than guilt by association. Being related
to a crook often means being demeaned by others as being cut from the same
cloth. I know first hand about this. Been dealing with it for 4 decades. In elementary
school it was teachers who hated my old man (due to his progressive actions in
town). So certain teachers would treat me and my sister differently than the
rest of the kids. In high school the word got around about the my old man being
something he wasn't (made) and teachers would pass me in classes I didn't give
a shit about. Nice world we live in, huh?
The name game is something that is played in society
to further somebody's social standing. Name dropping is common with a lot of people.
Like " I took a piss at the airport and standing next to me was Ronnie
Wood from the Stones" . Like wow. Wish it was me. Not. But
conversations amongst most humans is embellished to the point of absurdity. Not
Krude though. If I say it or write it - believe it. I have nothing to
prove to anybody. Except I'm somehow still on Earth. Against ALL odds.
We,as a whole society, don't really have names anymore. We
are now known by sets of numbers and credit standing scores. My real last name
is home to only 3 other people on Earth.
Me,my son and my sister. I will not be confused with any other person in
the world. But to the Real world, I'm a social security number and a lousy
credit rating. Just like you.
I'm really not sure why more people don't put down the droid
phone for a few minutes and think about who they really are. And their place in
society. Everybody is born with a name. And has a mother and a father. My
mother recently found out who her real family is. She is 72 years old and was adopted
as a baby. It is as though she has a whole new life to live in her retirement
years.
If the winter holidays mean anything. It is to be
around people you enjoy being around. Life creates enough stress. No need to be
fake and miserable around people you consider substandard. I've been making it
a point the last few years to spend Xmas in Atlantic City,NJ. Playing craps
with a whiskey on the rocks on Christmas morning makes me happy. And
the croupiers call me by my name. That's my idea of a holiday. Cheers!
You can call me Ray
