AEW Dynamite | Episode 16 | 1/22/20 | Nassau Bahamas | Jericho Cruise

This Wednesday nights episode of AEW Dynamite came to us from Nassau Bahamas on the Jericho Cruise, which is pretty awesome and I don’t recall that being done before. As expected, I enjoyed the whole show and the two hours flew by fast.

The match that kicked off the show was, in my opinion, the best match of the night. Not to mention it’s an AEW Tag Team Championship Match.

Hangman Adam Page and Kenny Omega vs SCU’s Scorpio Sky and Frankie Kazarian. The crowd is 100% behind Hangman as always. Great match with Hangman going literally into the crowd. Lucky fans. Some accidental moves between Omega and Page but they seem to be working well together regardless. Overall the match is great, and I really enjoy seeing Scorpio Sky in action.

At the end of the match we get NEW AEW Tag Team Champions in Kenny Omega and Hangman Adam Page. I’m all for this team and glad they won.

Next match we have is Priscilla Kelly vs Dr. Britt Baker DMD. Ok match. Britt Baker picks up the win, and who thought she wouldn’t anyway?

Then she gets interviewed in the ring by Tony Schiavone. It’s so hard to get behind her as a heel. But who knows that could be because her promo was cut off when they went to commercial in the middle of it.

Not nice.

We have Jurassic Express vs Inner Circle up next and was such a good match. Everyone involved did an awesome job. The teamwork of Jurassic Express is outstanding! Marko Stunt is fun to watch as well. Luchasaurus’ dominance was shown in this match as it should have been.

On another note, I have to say I think Santana and Ortiz might be my favorite tag team in AEW. I definitely see them being tag champs at some point in the near future.

Back to the match, I was so impressed with Marko Stunt getting a near fall on Le Champion Chris Jericho. I actually was hoping he got the upset. How awesome would that have been?! But Jericho kicked out, Jake Hager got involved, and Jericho picks up the win. I liked this match a lot and I love everyone in it.

Up next is a preview of the MJF and Cody Rhodes rivalry. One of the best story lines going on right now.

The Salt of the Earth heads out to the ring without Wardlow to face Joey Janela.  Of course, he has the most entertaining entrance and they go to commercial, but hey at least we can see it in the small box. (Lucky fans kissing the ring.) Decent match with a Kip Sabien and Penelope Ford distraction, helping MJF pick up the win.

(The Kip, Penelope, and Janela feud is also pretty interesting really want this to keep evolving.)

Now MJF gets a mic and my excitement level is through the roof, obviously. He talks about how Cody Rhodes is right, and how he will be the last chapter in his book. Cody then comes out to confront him even though he can’t touch him. MJF taunts him, throws the mic, and kicks it away from him. He’s the asshole we don’t deserve.

The Young Bucks then come out kick MJF, and throw him in the pool. Which maybe he deserved, but it wasn’t necessary. But again, I’m a biased MJF fan. He’s the future of the business. Point blank period.

The Young Bucks show up and Hangman insults them and leaves. Seems like some tension between The Elite. Storyline possibilities here are endless.

Finally, we get to the Main Event. Chris Jericho joins commentary, which makes it that much better. This is a number one contenders match for Le Champion Chris Jericho’s AEW World Championship. PAC vs Moxley. Moxley comes out with his one eye bandaged which, makes him look like the weaker opponent. PAC uses the eye patch to his advantage. Moxley however, doesn’t seem to be bothered by only having one eye to see out of. He wins the match and will get a chance at Jericho’s
Great match and I can really see Moxley being the one to take the belt from Jericho. It’s going to be a good match-up.

Overall this week, every match was good and I look forward to next Wednesday, as always. So many storyline possibilities and some new match ups to head into the Revolution PPV.
