New South Pro Wrestling presents Action Clash Episode 2
Event Air Date: September 29, 2020
Event Venue: JC Arena in Hanceville, AL
Available on demand via IWTV.live
Episode 2 of New South’s Action Clash is an exceptional follow-up to the show’s premiere just judging from the main event alone, but you won’t want to miss a moment of the other matches on this episode as well. We’ve got a tag team bout that will see two of the wildest teams in the division go up against each other as well as the show debut of Ichiban Number One, Jaden Newman, one of the most visible characters of the Southern wrestling scene (seriously, the guy has worked everywhere).
If it wasn’t made evident in the premiere, the caliber of this show is up there with some of the bigger indie promotions going today. New South’s production values surpass a lot of expectations; you’ll find yourself coming away from these episodes remarking about the quality camera work and just how ‘put-together’ everything looks for a deep south indie promotion. Keep letting Alabama surprise you this way; it’s pretty satisfying.
On Commentary: John ‘Mose’ Mosley and 2-Fly Ty
Mose is back on commentary with co-holder of the New South Tag Team championship 2-Fly Ty, and as much as I don’t want to blow Ty’s head up with praise I have to admit the guy has the gift of gab. I prefer the megapower team of Mose and Brickster on the mic for the matches, but I won’t complain about Ty at all (except for when it comes to how he treats his co-champ Dy-Lan). He’s got quite a knack for keeping his eye on the action while firing off snide remarks left and right, which to me is the mark of a good color guy.
Match 1: The Ladykillerz (‘Hot Tamale’ Daniel Perez and ‘Tinder Titan’ Bailey Blake) vs The Talladega Knights (Hunter Drake and ‘All Beef’ Tyler Franks)
I am absolutely enthralled with the Talladega Knights. Not only do I love the team name, but these are the kids who you want to succeed. They’re going places, and I don’t mean just around the southern states. Hunter and Tyler are still very young and getting their name out there, and matches like these need to be paid attention to by every promoter on the indie scene. Get these guys on any show in any part of the country and watch them rock.

And for the Ladykillerz? I think Hot Tamale’s found the sauce he needed when he started teaming up in matches with the Tinder Titan. Tagged with anybody else I wouldn’t think they’d give the Knights much of a battle, but Perez and Bailey Blake together got down and dirty to start off this week’s Action Clash. In fact, they got so dirty with it that Bailey Blake saw no other way to get his team to victory in the heat of a lengthy battle than to take the absolutely cheapest way out (you’ll notice his beloved Tinder app doesn’t cost a thing either) and go for a low blow on Hunter Drake for the shady pinfall victory. Definitely not the outcome I wanted for this match but very true to form for the Ladykillerz. The Knights deserve their revenge!
Match 2: Jaden Newman vs. Rodney Rockchild
Are you really at a southern indie wrestling show in 2020 if Jaden Newman isn’t booked on the card? To say he’s (ichiban number) one of the hardest working talents on the scene is not enough, you should include that he’s also one of the most consistently working talents on the scene. It was only a matter of time before he did his victory lap all over Action Clash. His first opponent wouldn’t exactly be a walk in the park though, even though I’m sure Rodney Rockchild enjoys walks in the parks on his own time.

No, Rodney was in obstinate mode in this match and got to show just a bit of his aggressive side against Newman as well even though this one was kept at a fairly shorter length than the other two matches on this episode. There’s a good amount of fun spots in this one to keep you entertained as well; Newman makes good on his show debut with a victory and you just know we’ll be seeing him again in the weeks ahead.
Jaden: "NUMBER ONE!!"

Main Event: Adam Priest vs. Blake Christian
Speaking of southern guys who’ve enjoyed a good run lately just about everywhere, Blake Christian is back in the New South ring for this episode’s main event and he squared off against one of the promotion’s finest talents - despite his intensified bad attitude and sketchy associations - Adam Priest. What a damn match! Thankfully most indie fans all over the world know Blake Christian’s name by now, which is just as it should be...but I’d say this match will be one for Priest’s highlight videos in the future, too. Well, at least right up until the end of the main event, that is.

You see, Priest is good but for some reason relies on strength in numbers, which is why his partner in shenanigans and reigning New South champion Derek Neal found it right and just to be at ringside at the conclusion of this match to ‘support’ his cohort Adam. NOT EXACTLY FAIR! Just as you’d expect, and very similar to what happened at the end of the premiere, the alliance between Derek Neal and Adam Priest (and Steven Michaels, who was likely somewhere drinking but his misdeeds were here in spirit too) cost another match to someone just a breath away from winning.
Post-Show Thoughts
If a number of these names are brand new to you, I advise you to commit a couple to memory. I promise these will be the ones you’ll see advertised for more shows and more promotions in 2021. Hunter Drake is one I’d love to see in a GCW scramblefuck once they head back down South again. Tyler Franks needs to be booked everywhere too; get this kid and Drake on AEW Dark! I’m fairly excited about the depth of talent in New South’s tag team division as these are young folks who specialize in teaming and can also do great work in singles action as well. As the episodes of Action Clash progress, keep your eye on the tag matches offered up because, in my estimation, they’re the most polished gems in this treasure of a promotion.
