ROH TV Recap: Episode 436

Ring of Honor TV: Episode 436
By Dylan Hager

It is a new era in Ring of Honor, and it is time for the first of many ROH reviews here at bWb.

This week's episode starts with a look at World Champ PCO vs Rush in Atlanta. The package shows NWA World Champion Nick Aldis making a run in, and it shows Rush, Dragon Lee, and Kenny King laying out PCO.

Ian Riccaboni and Quinn McKay welcome us to the show. Tonight's main event will be a Six Man Title match between the champions, Villain Enterprises, and Bandido, Flamita, and Rey Horus. They also announce that the main event of "Free Enterprise" on February 9th will be Marty Scurll and PCO vs Aldis and Rush.

We see highlights from Dragon Lee vs Andrew Everett from "Saturday Night at Center Stage" on January 11th.

Quinn is backstage in Atlanta, and she is interrupted by 2 Guys 1 Tag. Silas pushes Woods into Quinn, and they laugh it off. Woods and Silas make a fun team.

We take a look at a Vincent package before going to our first match.

Vincent and Bateman vs Wrestling Buddies (Sal Rinauro and Michael Stevens)
This is basically a squash with Bateman taking it to both Rinauro and Stevens. Sal mounts some offense, but Bateman quickly takes him out with a piledriver. Bateman tags in Vincent, and Vincent grabs the mic. ROH cut the audio due to "Vincent's controversial statements," but we do see Vincent cover Rinauro for the win, as all of Vincent's entourage counts along for the three. Winners: Vincent and Bateman. Solid squash match. This Vincent storyline and faction has a lot of potential, but it also could quickly go south. I'm excited to see where they with it though.

Next we get a Nick Aldis promo outside the arena. He calls out Marty for coming to the NWA ppv. Aldis says he has no problem teaming with Rush if it means he gets his hands on Marty. Nick really is one of the best talkers in the business today.

Ian and Quinn hype up the live events for February. ROH has Free Enterprise on the 9th, Bound by Honor on the 28th, and Gateway to Honor on the 29th. All three events will be available on FITE TV and Honor Club.

We take a look at Shane Taylor's promo from the Atlanta show. Taylor calls out ROH COO Joe Koff, and demands that SoS gets a future six man title match, he gets a future World Title match, he gets a new contract, and his face on the posters.

Ian and Quinn hype up the tag team division, and promote Lethal and Gresham vs Cobb and Maff for Free Enterprise in a Proving Ground match and Lethal and Gresham defending the Tag Titles against 2 Guys 1 Tag in Nashville on the 28th.

We take a look at some highlights from Jonathan Gresham vs Josh Woods from Saturday Night at Center Stage.

ROH Six Man Tag Team Titles: Villain Enterprises (c) vs Bandido, Flamita, and Rey Horus
This match aired on the Honor Club portion of Saturday Night at Center Stage. Flip Gordon is taking the place of PCO in this match, but the titles will be on the line. Brody King and Flamita start the match. Brody uses his size to gain the advantage, but both men tag out. Marty Scurll and Bandido come in. They exchange a number of holds and pinfall attempts. Neither man gains an advantage, and they tag in Flip and Horus. Flip gets control of Horus, and Flip and Marty execute some double teaming. Brody comes in and lays out Horus with a huge chop. Brody and Marty double team Horus, and Marty tags in Flip. Horus counters the Flip and Marty double team and makes the hot tag to Bandido. Bandido takes out three members of VE. The three luchadors all hit dives onto the champs on the outside. Flamita hits a 450 splash on Flip for a two count. The challengers triple team Flip, but he again kicks out at two. Flip turns it around with a springboard spear on Flamita. Flip tags in Brody and chaos breaks out. All six men are hitting moves, and there is plenty of double teaming. The sequence ends with Horus hitting the DDTJ on Brody, and everybody is wiped out. Bandido and Marty both make tags and exchange strikes. Bandido hits his X Knee and follows it up with a double team with Flamita, but Marty is out at two. Marty tries to fight back against all three challengers, but he is met with a triple superkick. Bandido hits a moonsault slam, but Brody and Flip break up the pinfall attempt. The champs clear the ring. Marty and Flip hit the Made in Detroit on Bandido, and King and Marty follow up with a double team of their own. Bandido kicks out at two, just to be triple teamed by the champs. Brody and Flip dive onto Flamita and Horus at ringside as Marty calls for the Chickenwing, but Bandido rolls up The Villain for the three count. We have new champs! Winners: Bandido, Flamita, and Rey Horus This was easily one of my favorite ROH matches of the past year, and honestly, my review probably doesn't do it justice. Go watch this match!

Overall, a solid episode of ROH TV. I loved the main even. Be sure to watch this episode on the ROH website or FITE TV.
