Vipers drop 3rd straight, P.J. Walker continues hot start in 34-27 victory.

Week 3 of the XFL was anything less than exciting! In game one the Houston Roughnecks took on the Tampa Bay Vipers. The Roughnecks came into this game with a perfect 2-0 record, while the Vipers were still winless in two very poor performances in back to back weeks. P.J. Walker, star quarterback for the Roughnecks, had two outstanding performances in week 1 and 2, and week 3 was no different. Walker was 23/38 for 306 yards and 4 touchdowns. Three weeks of outstanding performances puts him and Cardale Jones as top contenders for the league MVP.

The Vipers were still relying on the 2-quarterback system heading into week 3, and it still showed they were all over the place on offense. However, this was by far their best offensive performance and they showed that they were slowly starting to head in the right direction. The Vipers were hanging around the entire game.

The Vipers and Roughnecks went back and forth the entire game. P.J. Walker and Cam Philips did all of the Roughnecks scoring, as the 2 Vipers quarterbacks did most of theirs. The Roughnecks were winning 34-27 with the Vipers getting the ball with a little under 2 minutes left in the game. However, the drive was cut short when Vipers quarterback Cornelius was picked off by the Roughnecks linebacker DeMarquis Gates to end the game. The Roughnecks pulled out the victory to go 3-0 with a 34-27 win over the still winless Vipers.

Landry Jones finds a way to win despite turnover issues continuing

Game 2 saw the Dallas Renegades taking on the Seattle Dragons. The question going into the game was if Landry Jones was going to be able to play as efficient after his performance in week 2. Jones seemed to be on pace by throwing for 274 yards and 3 touchdowns, but he did throw 2 interceptions. While his counterpart Brandon Silvers put up another decent performance throwing for 204 yards and 2 touchdowns.

However, the Renegades seemed to be in control for most of the game. After trailing the Dragons 12-6, the Renegades scored 18 unanswered points to win 24-12 over the Seattle Dragons. The Renegades are now 2-1 overall putting them right in the middle of the pack, while the Dragons fall to 1-2. The downfall for the Dragons has been inconsistent play over the last 3 weeks, and if they can figure out how to play consistently then watch out for the Dragons later on in the season.

While there wasn’t any drama in week 3, unlike weeks 1 and 2, there is still a lot of exciting football being played. The Roughnecks join the Defenders as early favorites to win the championship this year, but don’t count out the Renegades or the Dragons just yet. There is still a lot of football left to be played. One thing we do know for sure is that the Seattle Dragons have the best fan base in the XFL, and if they make a run it could be a lot of fun to watch!
