ROH Bound By Honor Recap

Ring of Honor Bound By Honor
2-28-20
Nashville, TN
By Dylan Hager

Time for the first of two ROH weekend shows to close out February!

Ian and Caprice welcome us to the show and run down tonight's card, and we go to the first match!

Marty Scurll vs Slex vs Bandido
What a way to start a show! Great match, though it was a little shorter than I had hoped. All three guys got their stuff in. Bandido shown bright with a couple big dives early. Bandido hit his top rope fall-away slam on Slex. The finish came when Bandido hit the 21-plex on Slex. Marty rolled up Bandido for two, but he immediately hit the Black Plague and pinned Bandido for the win. Good fast paced opener! Winner: Marty Scurll

After the match, Shane Taylor and the SOS attacked Slex just like they did in Baltimore earlier this month. Slex, you might want to make some friends in ROH.

The Righteous vs PJ Black and Brian Johnson vs Lifeblood vs Joe Hendry and Dalton Castle
As you would expect, this was complete chaos in the best way possible. Lifeblood and Hendry/Castle took turns working over Johnson early in the match. Vincent and Bateman finally tagged in around halfway through the match. The ending was complete chaos. PJ hit a dive to the floor. There was a number of signature moves from multiple wrestlers. Castle hit Haskins with the Bang-A-Rang, but Johnson rolled him up for two. Castle and Hendry hit the Crescendo on Johnson for the win. Really fun match. Dalton and Joe are incredibly entertaining. Winners: Joe Hendry and Dalton Castle

Session Moth Martina joins Ian and Caprice for the next match!

Angelina Love vs Nicole Savoy
Of course, Mandy Leon is out with Angelina. This match blew away my expectations. It really was great. Very competitive back and forth match between Savoy and Love. Savoy would use her suplexes and submissions to get ahead, but Love and Mandy would use underhanded tactics to regain the advantage. Mandy distracted Savoy, but Savoy ducked and Angelina knocked Mandy off the apron. Savoy rolled up Love for the win. Really solid match. Winner: Nicole Savoy

Rush and Kenny King vs Flip Gordon and Brody King
Time for the next chapter in the LFI vs Villain Enterprises feud. Amy Rose was at ringside with King and Rush. This was much more of a brawl than it was a wrestling match. It quickly went to the outside with all four guys going at it. Rush and King controlled much of the match. Brody King turned the momentum in favor of VE, but LFI moved out of the way of a Flip moonsault, leaving Brody on the receiving end. Rush used a cable to choke out Brody resulting in a rare DQ in ROH. The four continued to brawl until ROH security pulled them apart. Winners: Flip Gordon and Brody King (DQ)

Eli Isom vs LSG
This was only a quick match with both getting in a little offense before Bully Ray interfered. No Contest

Bully took out both guys before grabbing the mic. He said he has been too nice in ROH, and he is now going into business for himself. Eli takes the mic and says he will put Bully out of ROH forever.

Eli Isom vs Bully Ray
The ref rings the bell, and it looks like this match is official! Eli got in offense early and picked up a near fall, but Bully hit the Bully Bomb for the win. Winner: Bully Ray

Bully continued to beat down Isom after the bell. Cheeseburger ran down, but Bully took care of him as well. Caprice ran down and made the save. Look, nobody needs a Bully vs Caprice feud.

ROH World Tag Team Championship: Jay Lethal and Jonathan Gresham (c) vs 2 Guys 1 Cup
Lethal and Gresh attack before the bell. Lethal took out Young's knee with his title belt. The champs controlled Silas early, but Woods made the hot tag and swung momentum to the challengers. Silas came back in, but his knee quickly went out. Lethal locked on the Figure Four, but Woods powerbombed Gresh onto Lethal to break the hold. The champs hit a Lethal Injection/SSP combo on Woods for a near fall. Silas rolled up Gresham, but Lethal reversed the positioning and Gresham pinned Silas. Much better match than I expected with Silas nursing his knee for the whole match. Really good stuff. Lethal and Gresham are great heel champs. Winner: Jay Lethal and Jonathan Gresham

Rey Horus vs Alex Shelly
Man, this match was fun. Very technical as you would expect. Horus stayed right there with Shelly for the whole match. The match did spill to the outside for a bit, but mostly stayed in the ring. Horus hit a nice Spanish Fly for a near fall, but Shelly won with the Motor City Stretch. Shelly motioned that he wants the Pure Title after the match. Shelly has to be a favorite in the upcoming tournament. Winner: Alex Shelly

Cary Silkin joined commentary for the next match.

Dan Maff and Jeff Cobb vs The Briscoes
No surprise, these guys brought it! Just a brutal, awesome tag match between two of the best teams in ROH. Briscoes picked up the with a Jay Driller/Froggy-bow combo on Cobb. This was just a physical brawl from bell to bell. We saw Briscoes diving to the outside, big suplexes from Cobb, a lot of power from Maff - really, exactly what you would expect. Cobb and Maff have quickly became a great team. Great stuff! Winners: The Briscoes

The NWA World Champion, Nick Aldis joined Ian and Caprice for the main event.

ROH World Championship: PCO (c) vs Dragon Lee
Dragon Lee's TV Title was not on the line for this match. Lee got off to a hot start taking it right to the World Champ. Because PCO is not human, he came back and picked up near falls off of a buckle bomb and a package piledriver. PCO hit his PCOsault, but Lee kicked out at two. Lee hit two running knees, but PCO kicked out at two. PCO finished the match with a tombstone and a PCOsault for the win. Very good main event. Interesting matchup, and these two champions brought it! Winner: PCO

Another really good show by ROH in 2020. Loved the main event, Horus vs Shelly, and Maff/Cobb vs Dem Boys. Very pleasantly surprised by the Women of Honor match, and again, Marty vs Slex vs Bandido is a heck of a way to open a show. Great stuff from Nashville!

Go order this show or another ppv from FITE and help support the bWb team!
