It was announced on Thursday that NWA World Champion, Nick Aldis, would be taking the role of "correspondent" to Fite.Tv Global Digital Brand - this, coming on the heals of the announced partnership between the NWA, Thunder Studios & The United Wrestling Network.
The past few months have not been kind to the NWA. Talent defections and the resignation Dave Lagana, head of creative, has brought the National Wrestling Alliance to a screeching halt after jumping out of the gates October 8th, 2019, when they debuted the much loved NWAPowerrr on Youtube.
Covid-19 slowed down the train, but #SpeakingOut completely derailed the NWA - but with these recent moves, one wonders If a new plan has been hatched by NWA owner, William Corgan.
The weekly PPV, very reminiscent to the old days of TNA's beginnings, is a bold move. No price point has been released regarding the NWA/UWN/Fite shows, but If it's anything more than five dollars an episode, I'm not sure this will be successful. Most people do not have the expendable money they had six months ago.
There are several promotions I would love to see hook up with the NWA: AAW out of Chicago, New South Pro Wrestling out of Alabama and Paradigm Pro out of Louisville. All very unique companies that I think could create a feeder system to the NWA, while garnering a bigger presence through a partnership with the NWA.
One thing is certain: The death of the NWA has been largely exaggerated, it seems. Corgan's love child won't rest without a chance to fight for it's life.
