The best thing about the third episode of Action Clash is that this one’s got the most featured matches out of all of the shows aired so far. Five matches and the hour still flew by! Episode 3 turned out to be a good way to introduce several of the fresh crop of talent making names for themselves in New South. I’m particularly impressed with new guys like Brayden Toon and Duncan Mitchell, and it’s also very cool to see future headliners like Kenzie Paige in the ring against Elayna Black, who’s done a damn fine job of letting all the cards fall in the right place for her over the past year. Very good episode; likely the best one yet for anyone who loves the action to stay strong from start to finish.

On Commentary: John ‘Mose’ Mosley and 2-Fly Ty

Don’t quote me on this, but I may actually start to miss 2-Fly Ty a little on commentary once we’ve got Brickster back at the table. Believe me, I’m always ready to hear Brickster get hype during a match. However, Ty’s grown on me a little. Maybe it’s because he’s working with Mose and Mose is doing all the heavy lifting. Can’t be because I actually think Ty’s getting good at this whole commentary thing, right…?

Match 1: The Mongrel vs Wes Taylor

Poor Wes Taylor. Here I am talking up all of the new fresh talent in New South and then we have young Wes here going up against the baddest beast backstage, The Mongrel. Seriously, if you haven’t seen The Mongrel, you really should get a look at him to understand where he’s coming from...and I’m not even 100% sure where the guy comes from. This big furry beastly guy intimidates me, and I’ve seen him live in the ring on more than one occasion. I didn’t envy Wes’s position one bit. Needless to say, The Mongrel dominated this one quickly and got the win. The question I’d like to pose now is - does New South even have a big enough monster to pit against this beast?

Match 2: Leo vs Braydon Toon

When I first saw this match I wanted to say ‘poor Braydon Toon’ knowing what I know about Leo and what he does in the ring, but then I saw what Braydon Toon can do as well. This is the perfect match if you’re one of those fans like me who enjoys seeing the newer, lesser known guy surprise the hell out of everyone else and put up an even bigger fight than expected. For any readers just tuning in to New South for the first time, keep your eye on Leo. The guy’s a legit badass and he came through with a sound victory here over Toon despite the latter going on a mighty decent performance during this match. As opposed to the first match which went quick and ended in an expected mauling, this one had just enough time to tell us exactly what’s good about both Leo and Braydon.

Match 3: Duncan Mitchell vs Steven Michaels

Full disclosure, I wanted Duncan Mitchell to win this match just to get on the Alpha Wolf’s last nerve (it’s an amusing hobby of mine, love to see others pick it up). And damn if the kid didn’t get in at least a couple of moments where the match tipped in his favor! Okay, okay, yes, I get it. Steven Michaels is good. Damn good. He proved it this year alone in his series of matches with his dear old buddy Adam Priest. But Duncan Mitchell needs his time to shine too! It just wasn’t in this match, unfortunately, and Steven Michaels isn’t in the business of helping people realize dreams. Nope!

In fact, the Alpha Wolf was more in the business of helping people headfirst into the mat for this match. Michaels got the win here and Mitchell deserves many, many more matches on this show. Maybe next time I’ll even get the hashtag right when live-tweeting his matches?

Match 4: Elayna Black vs Kenzie Paige

And now, two women who made 2020 their own! I have to say how impressed I am with both Elayna and Kenzie for picking up right where things left off in spring once safe shows were established. Elayna’s had a huge come up in the past year and I don’t blame her one bit for not wanting to slow down for too long. Kenzie’s got a similar situation, she’s made the most of these post-pandemic bookings and has consistently delivered quality in all of her New South matches this past summer.

The women’s match in Episode 3 is fantastic. Watch not only for Kenzie and Elayna’s dynamic skills but also for the outside-of-the-ring shenanigans that end up costing the fan-favorite Elayna the victory in the end. I am really enjoying Kenzie’s ‘bad attitude’ role in New South; she’s very young but a natural at getting heat behind a heel win!

Match 5: Jaden Newman vs Cabana Man Dan

Episode 3’s main event was another one that delivered a home run to close out the show. Jaden Newman, who’d made his show debut on the previous episode, was now stepping up to the heart and soul of New South in the ring. This would be a monumental main event match for CMD as well, as he’s returned to action in New South with a determined goal - get back the New South Heavyweight Championship from the current title-holder Derek Neal. The new road Dan’s paved for himself started with this bout against the self-proclaimed ichiban number one.

SOLID match between Jaden and CMD! Watch this episode’s main event if you haven’t yet seen Cabana Man Dan in post-pandemic action. You’re looking at a man with a plan these days. Hyper focused and in amazing shape, this is the exact version of Dan we want to see in order to get his Humongold back in his possession. This was definitely one of the harder battles Dan’s fought recently, as he went one on one for nearly ten minutes with Newman with hardly any break in the action. You’re gonna love it. CMD comes through with the victory to close out the show, taking a step in the right direction back towards the gold.

Post-Show Thoughts

If Episodes 1, 2, and 3 of Action Clash delivered this much excitement and this much craziness, then what on earth are we to expect in the weeks ahead?

I’ll clue ya in, naturally, without too many spoilers -

You’re gonna see some wildness go down, especially in Episode 4 this coming Tuesday! I was in Huntsville for this Action Clash taping recently. All I want to tell you now is that CMD has got yet another huge match ahead of him on the road back to the gold and I’ve got quite a volatile situation that comes to a boiling point with one Mr. Steven ‘Alpha Wolf’ Michaels when he takes on my guy Kung Fu Janela in Episode 4. Do not miss it!
