The Collective: Effy's Big Gay Brunch Preview

By Don Halliwell for bWbwrestling.com

I have ordered the whole Collective package, and there are a lot of shows and matches that I am looking forward to, but Effy’s Big Gay Brunch is the only one that I am planning a meal around.  I am very excited for this show, as it is going to have some really good matches and probably be the overall most entertaining show of the weekend.  I got my champagne ready for my mimosas and are ready for these matches.

Effy v.Priscilla Kelly

This match could go many ways, but is sure to be entertaining.  It is one of 3 or 4 matches that could be the match of the show.  This will probably start up with some mind games, and  with these 2, and it being advertised as too hot for TV, who knows what that could entail. After seeing Priscilla Kelly’s match against Chris Dickinson she proved how tough she is and this will inevitably end up in a brawl.  This will start out very fun, but I feel will end up being a very hard hitting match.

The Twink Gauntlet

There appears to be many additional people added to this, but so far we have Logan Stunt, Devon Monroe, The Runway of Tyler Klein and Calvin Couture, Molly Mccoy, Jimmy Lloyd, who is spiritually a twink, Juicy Jimmy, who apparently won a bet with Effy to get in, and Parrow.  I do not know how Parrow got into this, but he is surely going the yeet some twinks all around the ring.

Cassandro v. Sonny Kiss

This match could also be a show stealer.  If you are not familiar with Cassandro,  check out some clips from his 30 year career.  He is the most famous and accomplished Exotico from Mexico.  The last time that I saw Cassandro wrestle was his match with Mercedes Martinez at Rise Pride & Joy, which is a match I would totally recommend checking out.  He was still doing dives and had an amazing match with Mercades as I expect him to on this night. Through the years Cassandro has amazed fans with not only his lucha wrestling, but also with his style.  Speaking of style, on the other side of the ring is the AEW star, the concrete rose, Sonny Kiss.  This is sure to be at battle of style and athleticism.  It could also be very emotional as Cassandro is someone that I am sure has influenced many of the wrestlers on this show.

Dark Sheik v. Still Life

This should be a very interesting match as both wrestlers are charismatic and athletic.  Still Life is a nonbinary wrestler who is literally a piece of art.  They are a former Young Lions Cup champion which they held for the entire year with impressive defenses against Allie Kat, Braydon Lee, Carlos Romo and many others.  Their typical method of earing a victory is by the incredibly impressive submission move Venus de Milo.  Dark Sheik is a transgender wrestler who I must admit I am not incredibly familiar with.  I have seen  some of her work from Hoodslam and it does appear that she will definitely be able to keep up with Still Life on the mat, with her strikes and flying through the air.

Second Gear Crew v. MV Young, Billy Dixon, Josh Wavra, O'Shay Edwards

This is one of the matches that I am looking forward to the most, as most indie wresting fans are familiar with the members of the Second Gear Crew; Mance Warner, AJ Gray, Matthew Justice and Manders, some may not be as familiar with the members on the opposing team YET.  MV Young is the leader of the PolyAm Cult, the ring light champion and the Wrestler’s Lab champion.  He has wrestled Casanova Valentine in a no ring death match and Lee Moriarty in a hard striking match.  He will distract you with his cockiness, style and possibly his ring light, then hit you with a forearm strike or suplex.  Joshua Wavra is formally Joshua Wells, while they still have the same athleticism, if we are to gage from their appearance at the PolyAm Cult Party 2 they have  a whole new attitude and are not to be taken lightly.   Billy Dixon is the current Chocolate City champion and has had very hard hitting, brutal matches in Prime Time Pro, PAWDWC and most recently had one of my favorite matches of the year at PolyAm Cult Part 2 against Jared Evans.  What can I say about O’shay Edwards that you will not think by seeing him just walk to the ring.  The man is a BIG, BAD KAIJU.  He is a Star.  I can not wait to see him go head to head against the likes of Manders or Mance Warner.

Allie Kat v. Jamie Senegal

I must admit that when I saw this match was announced I may have screamed.  These are 2 of my favorites and this is going to be such an entertaining match.  Jamie is best know as being a diva and for her athleticism, but can also fight whenever she needs to as was the case at a recent no ring No Peace Underground show.  Allie Kat is also typically a very fun loving feline, but has been known to get hardcore as is evidenced in her matches against Pinkie Sanchez, Nick Gage and Matthew Justice.  I feel that this is another match that could start out very fun but escalate quickly.

Sea Stars V. AC Mack & Ashton Starr

I will start this out by saying that the Sea Stars are one of my favorite tag teams in all of wrestling and if any promotion is serious about a women’s tag team division them along with the Bird and the Bee should be there.  So obviously I am looking forward to this match and their experience as a tag team should give them the advantage over two very good singles wrestlers.  I  am not incredibly familiar with Ashton Starr but have seen a few of his matches, most notably his match against Trish Adora at Butch vs Gore which was great.  He should be able to keep able to keep up with the athleticism and enthusiasm of the Sea Stars.  His partner is the one and only Champ Champ, The SUP Bonestorm Champ and ACTION champion, AC Mack.  AC has been having great matches and collecting titles, sometimes by nefarious means everywhere he goes.  He is every bit as good as he thinks he is and as long as he can stay on the same page as his partner they should have a very competitive match with one of the best tag teams in the world.

I am sure that there is more craziness that will be added to this show, as it has already been announced that Tony Deppen will be exploring his options and Effy’s dog Cranberry will be making an appearance.   If you are not watching all of the shows at the Collective I would recommend at least checking out this one the For the Culture because they will both be great shows and REPRESENTATION MATTERS.
