Indie Wrestling Wire: Episode 9 Recap of Limitless Wrestling's The Road

By Don Halliwell

Boomer Hatfield talks to us before the match and he says that he had the best match of his career before Covid and no one saw it.  He also said that he has been waiting for his opportunity and looks to show Nick Stapp how dangerous he is.

Nick Stapp vs Boomer Hatfield

All of the members of The Hive have joined Boomer at ringside for this first ever matchup.  Leary shows the camera that he has a Maine manager’s license, and it appears that all members of The Hive also have them.  Boomer and Stapp exchange headlocks early and end up in a stand still.  Stapp rolls around the ring to throw off Boomer  and then hits multiple dropkicks. Boomer comes back with his patent Charge elbows in the corner.  Stapp then hits a crossbody from the corner and Boomer goes to the outside to regroup with The Hive.  Leary tries to trip Stapp on the apron and Stapp is able to avoid him and hits a somersault onto Boomer.  Stapp gets back in the ring and Boomer hits a slingshot onto him to take control.  Stapp’s arm is visibly  hurt but he is able to get Boomer up for 2 slams before Boomer kicks his arm.  Boomer then kicks a grounded Stapp and hits an enziguri when Stapp catches his leg.   Boomer works on the Stapp’s arm some more with a bridging hammerlock, then he hits multiple elbows.   Stapp tries to make a comeback, but Boomer hits a dropkick to his injured arm.  Stapp catches Boomer running into the corner and hits him with a flying dropkick.   Stapp is able to get Boomer up for a death valley driver with his 1 good arm for a  near fall, but Boomer follows up with a Tiger Driver for a near fall of his own.   Boomer comes off the 2nd rope, but he is hit with a face buster from Stapp.   Stapp goes for a pin, but Leary puts Boomer’s leg on the rope and pulls him out of the ring.  With the referee distracted Travis Huckabee comes in the ring and hits Stapp with a flying forearm, but Kirby Wackerman comes to the ring with his manager license and takes out most of the members of The Hive.   However, apparently he did not take out everyone in The Hive, as Callux throws Stapp into Boomer.  Boomer strikes Stapp’s arms with his knees and locks in a submission for the win.  The Hive come in the ring and celebrate the win with Boomer Hatfield.

We get a video package telling us that the Sea Stars return next week!!!!!

Channing Thomas vs Little Mean Kathleen

Thomas has the obvious size and strength advantage, and he uses that early on as he tells Kathleen that she should just take a count out.  Kathleen is placed on the 2nd rope by Thomas, and hits him with a drop kick from it.  She then goes for a cross body but is caught and Thomas takes over again.  Thomas picks up Kathleen for a military press, but Kathleen reverses it into a DDT  for a near fall.  Thomas hits a European uppercut into a STF and Kathleen has to tap out.  Kathleen put up a fight, but Thomas was just too much for her and he is able to get the victory in pretty quick fashion.

Now we see Doug Weiser and he appears to be breaking into someone’s house.  He then grabs a referee’s shirts and wakes up Referee Greenleaf and gets him out of the house.  They are going down the road and try to hitch hike with no luck, so they decide to walk to their destination.  Weiser and Greenleaf end up at Dave Dyer’s house and Weiser tells the ref to make sure that he makes the 3 count because Dyer said that he could beat Weiser any time, anywhere.  Weiser lights a bag on fire on the doorstep and runs.  Dyer comes out and stomps out the fire and of course gets dog poop on his shoes.  He starts looking for the neighborhood kids that did this and gets hit with a flying Weiser from the porch, who rolls him up for a 3 count and runs.

Eric Johnson  v Love Doug

This is a first-time matchup between the undefeated Eric Johnson and the yet to win, Love Doug.  Love Doug hits Johnson with his love sign from behind with little effect, and he gets met with a right hand from Johnson.  Doug hits Johnson with multiple drop kicks, he is only able to stagger him with the first 2 but brings him down with the third.   He puts a sleeper hold on Johnson but is slammed to the mat and Johnson hits a splash for a near fall.  Johnson then hits Doug with a suplex but misses the splash.  Doug is able to muster up some offense, hitting a flying forearm in the corner followed by a bulldog for a near fall.   He then tries to take Johnson out from the top rope but gets caught and Johnson hits a swinging sidewalk slam for a quick victory.

After his victory Johnson brings ring announcer Ethan Scott into the ring and makes him announce him as the undefeated winner.  Johnson goes on the say that he will fight anyone but does not see Ethan Scott taking off his announcer clothes to show his singlet.   Ethan hits a Theis press on Johnson and rolls him up for a quick 2 count.  He then gives Johnson a double finger salute followed by a stunner for another near fall.  Ethan is getting some confidence until he is hit with a big clothesline from Johnson which knocks him out.   Johnson picks up a motionless Ethan and gives him a Johnson Special for his second win of the night.

Eric Johnson interviews himself in the back and says that he is the uncrowned champion and will not stop until he has that belt.

Alec Price vs Christion Casanova

This match is a preview match for Vacationland Cup tournament, as both participants will be in the tournament and are going to try to use this match to gain some momentum.  Both of these wrestlers are very athletic, and this looks to be a fast-moving match.  Casanova gets a quick start by jumping Price in the corner, but Price is able to hit him with a superkick.  Casanova strikes Price with some knees and goes for a leg drop but Price moves and hits an Emergency leg drop of his own.  Price hits a running knee on Casanova while his neck is in the ropes.  Casanova hits Price with a super kick but Price then ricochets off of Casanova and hits a dropkick.  The pace is very quick and these 2 are really putting on a show early on in this match.  Price climbs the ropes, but Casanova hits a Sucka Kick on the ropes followed by a Hilo and Lionssault. Price hits Casanova with a destroyer but only gets a 2 count and starts arguing with the referee.  He is getting frustrated and starts punching a grounded Casanova before putting him in a side headlock.  Casanova gets out of the headlock and hits Price with some strikes of his own.  He then hits Price with a pump handle slam for a near fall.  Casanova misses the Sucka Kick and Price hits a twisting DDT and a surprise kick, but Casanova is able to roll out of the ring.  Price throws him back in the ring, but Casanova catches Price coming through the ropes and hits him with a Remix Leg Drop and Dirty Diana, but Price is able to kick out.  Price hits a flying knee and a neck breaker.  He then goes for a surprise kick, but Casanova avoids it and hits the Culture Cutter for the win.  This was an amazing match between 2 of the best stars in Limitless Wrestling.  If this was a taste of what is to come on Saturday for the Vacationland Cup Tournament, then that is going to be a can’t miss show.

This was another great show by Limitless.  Nick Stapp tried to stand up to The Hive, but the numbers game was too much.  I hope we get to see a lot more of this Boomer Hatfield, from his promo to start the show to the match itself, he seemed fired up and focused.  Eric Johnson and Channing Thomas had decisive victories.  Doug Weiser defeating Dave Dyer at his house was very entertaining and the main event was just a phenomenal match.

The Vacationland Cup is this Saturday on IWTV.  The tournament will include Lee Moriarty, Christian Casanova, Alec Price, Daniel Garcia, CJ Cruz, Ace Romero, JD Drake and Kevin Blackwood.  It will also include a tag team dream match when the Sea Stars face the Maine State Posse.
