Indie Wrestling Wire: Spotlight - Promise Braxton

Promise Braxton Spotlight by Don Halliwell

Promise Braxton has really been making a name for herself in her short time in Reality of Wrestling.  She has only been there for a little over a year and has already captured the Diamonds Division Title.  This is a belt that has had some history.  It has been held by Kylie Rae on 3 different occasions and more recently by rising stars like Alex Gracia, Hyan and Rok-C.  Promise won the championship in an exciting  3-way match between herself, Hyan and Rok-C  that had me cheering until the end.   All three of the women in this match looked great and are sure to be stars very soon.  This was the main evert of an  all women’s episode of Reality of Wrestling TV, which can be found on YouTube or FITE.

I first saw Promise when she was wrestling in the Pittsburgh area as Londyn Ali.  She came out of the PWX school, which has also trained the likes of Lee Moriarty, David Lawless and TME, Duke Davis and Gannon Jones JR.  Londyn had always shown the athleticism along with the heart and determination in the ring.   In the Pittsburgh area she fought against standouts like Amazing Maria, Katie Arquette, and Lady Frost.  She also had a very brutal feud in Ryse against Jinx, now known as Ziggy Haim, which culminated in her being victorious in a hardcore match.

Promise Braxton is surely a star on the rise and someone you are going to want to be on the lookout for.  She was kind enough to answer a few questions about her wrestling career and moving from Pittsburgh to Texas.

Don: I first saw you wrestle in Pittsburgh under the name of Londyn Ali. Can you tell us about your time training in Pittsburgh, and who originally trained you at PWX?

Promise: I had the time of my life training in Pittsburgh. Training was always a learning experience and everyone there is so encouraging.   When I trained at PWX my trainers were/are Brandon K and Crusher Hansen.

Don: You moved to Texas and started working at ROW.  Did you specially move to train there and what made you decide that was where you wanted to go?  Also, what are the differences between wresting in PA/OH area vs Texas?

Promise: I moved to Texas to be closer to my mom, who moved here back in July 2018. I wasn’t really doing much personally or wrestling wise, so I started looking into what I really wanted to do. With everything going on I knew I had to make the decision to either stay in PA and eventually quit the business altogether, or move across the country and start over, and that’s what I did.

The biggest difference between Texas and PA/OH is the size. There are so many promotions in Texas since it’s so big.

Don: When you moved to TX you changed your name, was this something that you had wanted to do or did someone else recommend it?

Promise: Yes, it was my idea to change my name. I just outgrown the “Londyn Ali” persona. Plus, I wanted to use real parts of my real name.

Don: You have been wrestling some top upcoming stars in ROW like Alex Gracia, Roc-C and Jenna Lynn.  Do you feel that you are driving each other to become even better?

Promise: Absolutely! The Diamonds Division has some the best talent on the independent scene today. They’re all so good and that keeps everyone focused on becoming better.

Don: You ended 2020 on a pretty high note, by becoming the ROW Diamonds Division champion.  Can you explain what that meant to you, after moving to TX and now becoming the champion of a company that has a very strong woman’s division?

Promise: Winning the Diamond Division championship meant that I have a bright future in this business. That all the sacrifices that I had to make wasn’t for nothing. I took a giant leap of faith and did the work and got exactly what I wanted.

Don: What is next for you in 2021 and is there anything else that you would like us to know about you.

Promise: Fortunately, the world is getting slowly back to normal. I plan on continuing to prepare myself to any and all challenges thrown my way so that way I can always stay prepared.
