New South Pro Wrestling presents Action Clash Episode 20
Event Air Date: January 26, 2021
Event Venue: JC Arena in Hanceville, AL
Available on demand via IWTV.live
New South closes out January with the absolute most commotion and drama! Episode 20 of Action Clash is the first time we see five matches featured on the show in their entirety; this goes to show you how much goes down at these shows these days when we’re leaping from three matches to five within 60 minutes! Now that we’re twenty episodes in, here’s to hoping IWTV will consider a two-hour block in the near future. As New South’s roster grows and stories progress, one hour just won’t be enough anymore.
On commentary: Mose and Carmen Michael
The chemistry continues at the commentary table when Mose and Michael call the matches. If you’re familiar with southern wrestling commentary then you know there’s a huge legacy to look upon when it comes to familiar voices projecting the action into your home. I’m looking forward to the day that both Mose and Carmen along with a few other solid ‘mic guys’ usher in the new era of calling matches down south. Fine work from both again this week!

Match 1: Shean Christopher and Brayden Toon vs. The Ladykillerz (Daniel Perez and Rodney Rockchild)
Not only is the alliance between Shean Christopher and Brayden Toon and Sean Campbell a threat to everyone on the New South roster, but it’s also a bond that calls for giving it all. Such was the case in the opening tag match where the Ladykillerz took on Shean and Brayden. It’s impressive how well Brayden Toon meshes with his new team having just joined them so recently. They provided a formidable challenge to Perez and Rockchild, who brought their own particular brand of fire to the match.

It was the ending, however, that was the most puzzling. Just at the climax of battle, Shean and Sean appeared to depart the ring and leave Toon on his own against Perez and Rockchild. Toon, though...was okay with the decision. As if he had some sort of martyr complex, Brayden Toon allowed himself to take the loss for his team and let the Ladykillerz get by with the win!
This new empire requires much sacrifice...@SheanIsSelfish @toon_brayden @SeanCxmpbell #ActionClash pic.twitter.com/fyP76ottYD

It must be nice to have that sort of control over others, right? None of us had much time to think about the implications of this sacrificial alliance, because not too long after Perez and Rockchild got the win, they were attacked by the Body Shop, a group of guys who seem to think they can take the title of Sexiest Squad or something when that’s clearly the Ladykillerz’ domain...I think we’ll see Perez and Rockchild get some vengeance soon enough.
I don't think I'd trust my car at this Body Shop #ActionClash pic.twitter.com/gXLWsc1FSG

Match 2: Babie vs. Reka Tahaka
People just can’t let #Babie be great, can they? Once someone’s shining, everyone wants to get close to the glow. Maybe that’s what prompted Petty in Pink to take Babie under their wing after her debut match was suddenly left without an opponent. You’d think Dillon McQueen and Kenzie Page would be satisfied as reigning New South tag champions, but good on them for keeping their eyes open for potential talent. It didn’t take long at all for Babie to become the newest member of Petty in Pink, just in time for her debut match against someone else making their first appearance - Reka Tahaka!
If you haven’t seen Reka Tahaka in action yet, you’ll be wowed once you take a look at her here in her New South debut. She’s an intimidating force of nature, and for Babie to have Reka as her first opponent would be like dropping a first time hiker in the middle of the wilderness. I guess having Dillon and Kenzie around for backup isn’t such a bad idea after all! It took some shenanigans on the part of Petty in Pink, but Babie came through with her very first New South victory against one of the most formidable women I’ve ever seen. Is this the start of a pink streak of wins?

Match 3: Steven Michaels vs. Kevin Ryan (HOSS Qualifying Match)
The fourth HOSS qualifying match has to be my favorite one yet. This is a must-see match if you want to have a look at both Kevin Ryan and Steven Michaels at the top of their game. Michaels is starting out 2021 in amazing shape and for me to pay him this type of compliment means it’s the gospel truth. Kevin Ryan, on the other hand, is on fire at the moment. No matter what promotion he’s working in, he’s killing it. This qualifying match could have gone either way, and there are more than a few close calls here. Where Kevin is a master of agility in the ring, Steven is freakishly strong. These two personality styles collided head on and delivered us one hell of a match with a finish that left me shouting out loud. Good on Kevin Ryan for advancing to this year’s HOSS tournament, and shoutout to the Alpha Wolf for putting on one of his best matches I’ve seen since last spring.
I had to, HAD to gif this finish just because I knew Steven wouldn't like it#ActionClash @LupineFiasco @kevinryanBDED pic.twitter.com/vaorSfvtUj

Match 4: 2 Fly Ty vs. Duncan Mitchell
If I couldn’t see my boy Dy-Lan give 2 Fly Ty what he so richly deserves, at least I could see Duncan Mitchell get in the ring and put some hurt where it belongs. The last two episodes have been big challenges for The Prospect, and props to Duncan Mitchell for standing up tall in the ring against competitors who have been around longer and want to make an example out of the new guy. That certainly was 2 Fly Ty’s objective here, but Duncan wasn’t in the mood to be schooled one bit. Great match between these two with Ty showing off his experience over Duncan’s energy. I can’t wait to see more of Duncan in future matches; Ty got the veteran victory here but Duncan made him work hard for it.

Speaking of hard work, we’re just that much closer to Dy-Lan putting work in on Ty’s ass on February 6th...and get this...fans bring the weapons!!
Main Event: Hunter Drake vs. Derek Neal (New South Championship Open Challenge)
When you’re the champ you can talk as big as you walk, and Derek Neal does not miss an opportunity to do both. Surely this open challenge for the New South Championship was a chance for the King’s Road Slayer to show us all that he’s not only a fighting champ but a very dominant one too. No matter who stepped out to face him, they’d have a hell of a fight on their hands. That’s why it was so amazing to see none other than Hunter Drake come out to answer the challenge; imagine the heart and nerves of steel it requires to take this kind of chance?
This main event is one to see if yall want to watch a great story being told@DerekNeal91 @the_hunterdrake #ActionClash pic.twitter.com/n8COjl7nFE
— 🎬Tiffany Merryhill v.2021💫 (@ThatRoseTattoo) January 27, 2021
It takes nerves and heart to take this kind of beating, too. Derek Neal must have been insulted that someone dared to respond to the challenge at all, because he was merciless from the start to Hunter Drake. It made the champ even madder, though, when Drake took every advantage to rally back whenever he could instead of just staying down. One thing we learned? Hunter Drake can take a hell of a beating...and he keeps coming back!
The main event ended abruptly when, after it seemed like Derek Neal had beaten Hunter Drake from every side and angle of the ring but could not keep him down, we saw a masked man (well, most everyone around was wearing a mask but still) emerge from the audience and attack Hunter Drake, allowing Derek Neal to finish him off for the win.
NOW we know who he is! @t_superior94 #ActionClash pic.twitter.com/Ya50xk6SxB
— 🎬Tiffany Merryhill v.2021💫 (@ThatRoseTattoo) January 27, 2021
It didn’t take us long to find out that the masked mystery man was none other than Tony Frank, the newest protege in the Cortège along with Neal and his associates Adam Priest and Steven Michael. Frank may be in solid company...but he’d better watch out for Hunter Drake looking to hand him a receipt soon.
Post-Show Thoughts
You know, I love pro wrestling! We’re 20 episodes into Action Clash and there hasn’t been a moment of down time yet. That’s the best feeling, when wrestlers are busy and the goings-on within a promotion are looking positive. New South won’t be stopping this train anytime soon, as the upcoming February events and tapings will have us all going back to the southern wrestling mecca across the street from Domino’s for what we enjoy the most!
I love it when the intrigue and drama hit all at once, Episode 20 was great! Can't wait to see yall next week at Saturday night church! @NewSouth_PW #ActionClash
