Just from the opening I can tell this show is going to be different,
as they are mixing in clips of matches with old cartoons. The wrestlers are battling in an empty arena,
which has a little bit of a club feel with the lighting that they are using.
We are opening with 2 wrestlers from the Pittsburgh area,
Andrew Palace and Lee Moriarty. Lee has been
successful all over the country, while Palace has been collecting belts in the
Pittsburgh area and has recently made appearances on AEW Dark. They are quite familiar with each other, so
we will have to see if that comes into play in the match. They open the match with some chain wrestling
and are pretty even. Some people may be surprised
that Palace is able to keep up with Lee on the mat, but Andrew is an incredibly
well-rounded wrestler. Palace gets an
early advantage with a step up enziguri, but Lee comes back with the Lucha
armdrag and focuses on Andrew’s arm. Andrew
catches Lee off the ropes and gives him a back suplex, followed by a
clothesline for a near fall. Palace
keeps the momentum going with a spinning back breaker and continues to focus on
Lee’s back. Andrew locks his legs around
Lee’s midsection, then drives Lee’s midsection into his knees followed by a
vertical suplex. Palace whips Lee into
the corner, but Lee moves out of the way and counters with a diving uppercut. Andrew tries to go after Lee on the ropes but
gets hit with an enziguri and a double stomp for a near fall. Lee’s back is still in pain from the work
that Andrew had done to it earlier.
Andrew hits a spinning back fist followed by a suplex and 2 running elbows
in the corner. He goes for a diving crucifix
pin, but Lee kicks out at 2. Andrew hits
a suplex and goes from a Hernia Driver, but Lee is able to evade it. They exchange pin attempts and Lee is able to
get the victory by getting the 3 count after hooking Andrew’s legs and making
sure that he could not escape. This was
an excellent match between 2 of the best that Pittsburgh has to offer. This match could have gone either way. Lee was able to get the 3 count on this occasion,
but I feel like we may see this match again somewhere in the future.
Speaking of some of the best wrestlers that have come from
the Pittsburgh area, next we see Sam Leterna talking to MV Young about his title
defense against Mr. Grim. MV says that
he is going to take a picture of himself with his belt, post it on Twitter for
people to tell him how amazing he looks.
Then, he will walk up to Mr. Grim and slap him in his face.
Back in the ring, we have a 4-way battle between The African
American Horror Story Eel O’Neal, Max Zero, Devantes and A Whole Ass Dude,
Pancakes. Eel tries to go after everyone
to open the match, but that backfires as his opponents take him out of the
equation for the moment. Max and
Devantes go after Pancakes, but he is able to avoid both of them and hits a springboard
arm drag on Max and a dropkick on Devantes.
Eel comes back in the ring, but gets slammed to the mat by Devantes, who
then gives Pancakes a spinebuster. Max gets
the advantage over Devantes and gives him a deadlift suplex. Max and Pancakes then exchange strikes and crotch
Eel on the turnbuckle in the process. Max
suplexes Eel off the top rope, then gives him a big spin and locks in a
cloverleaf submission. Devantes is quick to break up the submission
and hits Max with a running headbutt. Devantes
picks Max up, but Pancakes comes off the top and takes them both down with a
dropkick. He continues to lay kicks into
Max and Devantes until Eel comes from behind with a forearm to the back of Pancakes’
head for the win. Eel was able to pick
his moment and take advantage of the opportune timing to get the victory.
Up next is a battle between 2 individuals who I am not extremely
familiar with, Hippy Dicky Moon and Pimp Daddy Apple Cinnamon. They both look like they are very chill, so
we will see who brings the energy to the ring.
I am liking that Pimp Daddy has his own megaphone to help with his introduction. This looks to be a fun match. Dicky gets the early advantage by sending Daddy
to the outside with a rana. Once Pimp
Daddy gets back in the ring, he lays some strikes in on Dicky before Dicky gets
in some quick offense. However, Dicky is
brought down with a kick to the face and a swinging neckbreaker from Pimp
Daddy. Daddy tries to slow down the
match with a stretch, then lays some knees into Dicky’s midsection followed by
a gut buster. Pimp Daddy appears to be
smarter than he looks as he keeps the pressure on Dicky and continues to slow
him down. They fight on the outside and Dicky
backdrops Daddy on the floor. Daddy
missed in the corner and gets caught with some elbows, a leg lariat and the
Peace Punch. Dicky goes for an Acid Drop,
but Daddy evades it and hits a Russian leg sweep. Daddy puts Dicky on the top turnbuckle and
tries to suplex him, but Dicky head butts Daddy off the ropes and hits a senton
on him for the win.
Up next is a match that I am really looking forward to in
the Queen of the Silver Screen Katie Arquette against the leader of the
scrunchie squad, Becca. Becca offers Katie a scrunchie, but Katie turns it
down, which angers Becca, and she gets the early advantage. Katie uses her power to try to turn the tide. Becca counters with her speed but gets caught
with a big spinebuster. Becca tries to
use her speed again but gets caught with a spear from Katie for a near
fall. Katie is one to stretch the rules
as she chokes Becca on the ropes and then hits her with a hip attack in the corner. She then gets Becca up for a Samoan Drop for
another near fall. Katie is really doing
her best to slow down the match and keep Becca on the mat. As we notice that Katie is bleeding from her mouth,
she picks up the tenacity and drives some knees into Becca’s face. She follows this up with a shining wizard,
but again Becca kicks out at two. Becca
gets back up and lays in some strikes but misses in the corner and Katie picks
her up for 2 suplexes. She is not able
to get the third as Becca hits a knee of her own, then hits Katie with a diving
cutter. They exchange forearms, then Becca hits Katie in the corner with 3 splashes
and follows it up with the Razzle Dazzle slap and a super kick for a near fall
of her own. Katie drops Becca with a big
powerbomb, but Becca is able to kick out at two to the amazement of Katie. Katie tries to get Becca up again, but Becca
rolls her up and gets the win. This was
a very even match, but Becca was able to us her speed to counter the power of
Katie Arquette.
Sam Leterna talks to the former champion Mr. Grim in the
back. Mr. Grim says that he is upset
that once MV beat him for the belt, MV lost the belt and they needed to get a
new one. He also states that he will
beat MV to win the championship, beat MV with the belt, put him in a body bag
and beat him while he is in the body bag.
He will then get rid of MV’s body and make all of MV’s 17,000 lovers his
lovers.
Now that we have heard from both combatants we go to the
ring for the main event. MV and Mr. Grim go right after each other and
start throwing big strikes. Mr. Grim gets
the early advantage until MV rakes his eyes.
MV brings Grim down with some kicks to his legs, but Grim comes back
with some more brutal strikes. MV goes
to the outside and gets hit hard by Grim as he comes back in. MV is able to send Grim to the outside with a
dropkick, then hits a flying knee from the apron. MV lays in some forearms, but Grim counters with
a powerbomb onto the apron. Grim tries
to take the air out of MV by choking him, but MV continues to fight back. MV hits a pump kick and goes a pin, but Grim
is able to get to the ropes. MV takes
over control with some forearms and goes for knees off the top rope, but Grim
gets his knees up. Grim gets MV in an
STF and continues to strike MV as he is tied up. Grim goes for a pin, but MV gets out at 2 and
gets Grim over with a German Suplex. MV gets
a near fall with the bridge of the suplex and continues to lay kicks into Grim. MV hits a flying dropkick off the top rope and
gets another near fall. Grim picks MV up
for a Death Valley driver for a near fall of his own. MV gets
Grim up on his shoulders but knocks down the ref with Grim’s legs. Grim gets MV with a pump kick and goes for
the cover, but the ref is down. All of
the sudden, Alex Price comes to the ring and hits a surprise kick on Grim. MV
follows it up with a knee to the back of Grim’s head for the win. MV gets the win but why did Price help MV? Is he in the PolyAm Cult or does he have an
issue with Mr. Grim?
