Enjoy Wrestling "Canned Heat" Week 2

On the first episode of Canned Heat season 2 we found out that at the end of this season we will have The Odyssey, which will be a battle royal for a secret reward that is in a closely guarded suitcase.  This match will involve everyone on the season 2 roster, so the matches up to that point are very important in gaining momentum.

The first match of the episode was Derek Dillinger with Ziggy Haim against Jayce Karr.  The rookie out of Pittsburgh, Jayce Karr, used his high-flying skills and speed advantage to get Derek reeling most of the match. However, Derek used his veteran knowledge and some help from Ziggy to get the upper hand and the victory over Karr.  We will see if The Production will use this momentum going into the match that Ziggy has this season and later in The Odyssey.

Next Shawn Phoenix comes out to talk about his injury, however he is interrupted by Commander Sterling.  Sterling mocks Shawn’s injury and says that they have 2 people that will take Shawn’s spot in The Odyssey.  Shawn says that he can beat Sterling with one arm but is distracted by David Lawless Esq and Mr. Grim walking to the ring and Sterling drops the already injured Phoenix with a choke slam.  Grim and Lawless beat down Phoenix until YOKAI, Erica Leigh and Lee Moriarty chase them off.  Lee Moriarty challenges Mr. Grim to a match on episode 2 for the Enjoy Cup that Lee won last season, but Grim had stolen from him.  This match should be very interesting as Lee is one of the best technical wrestlers today, but Mr. Grim does not care about that at all.  Grim will just look to use his size advantage to throw Lee around the ring and hurt him.  You have to think that David Lawless and Commander Sterling will be ringside for this match, and I would be very surprised if they did not get involved to ensure that the Enjoy cup remains in the possession of David Lawless.

The main event of episode one is Allie Katch vs MV Young.  Allie is much more serious than she has been in the past and the King of the PolyAm cult has the homefield advantage.  This match was back and forth from the very beginning.  We have always known how tough Allie is, as she has been in the ring with the likes of Nick Gage and Chris Dickenson, but she is now showing how great of a technical wrestler she is too.  Allie takes everything that MV throws at her and comes back with strikes and submission attempts of her own.  MV is finally able to get the victory with a running knee to the back of Allie’s head.  This is a must-see match and if you have not seen this episode yet I would highly recommend it.  Either of these wrestlers have to be one of the favorites to win The Odyssey, but this victory gives MV the momentum going into the battle royal.

In addition to Lee Moriarty against Mr. Grim episode 2 will also have The Kings of the District, Eel O’neal and Jordan Blade against YOKAI, Janai Kai and Yoya.  Regardless of gender these are 2 of the best tag teams in independent wrestling today.  Both teams have such great chemistry and can come at you with many different styles.  With KOD Eel brings a style that is uniquely his and is a kind of controlled chaos.  He is incredibly athletic and as soon as you think you have him figured out, he will make the tag to Jordan who brings in a completely different style.  Jordan has a BJJ background and will take her opponents to the ground and wear them down before locking in a submission and forcing them to tap out.  While YOKAI may appear to be more similar in size they also have different ways to beat you.  Kai is a martial arts expert, and she will use the skills that she has gained from Tae Kwon Do, kickboxing and Muay Thai, along with her speed to find different angles to lay in her strikes and knock out her opponent.  Yoya does have an MMA background, but is more likely to use his speed to take his opponent down through the air and get a pin using a maneuver that will leave you in awe and wonder how a human could possibly do that.  Overall, this looks to be an amazing match up that may leave people saying that these 2 teams are the future of tag team wrestling.
