WE. ARE. BACK!

When I say ‘we’, I mean me, and when I say ‘back’ I mean I’m back on my good old bullshit again!

After a lengthy six-month vacation from writing (filled with all of the debauchery you’ve come to expect from yours truly), I’m ready to dive back into weekly reviews of the best independent wrestling on the scene. This weekend I’m venturing back into the surprisingly welcoming arms of northern Alabama to check out the New South show in Hartselle, but before then it’s time to look back at this week’s episode of Action Clash and all of the wild happenings that went down at the Furniture Factory under the loud whistle of a speeding train!

Here’s the lineup from this past Tuesday night, with New South’s own Carmen Michael and Grease Monkey on commentary:

-New South Tag Team Championship Match: Talladega Knights (Hunter Drake and Tyler Franks) vs Suplex Science (Alex Kane and Damyan Tangra)

-Rolando Perez vs Kenzie Paige

-Chris Crunk's Mystery Team vs Wasted Generation (Shean Christopher, Sean Campbell and Brayden Toon)

-New South Championship Match: Adam Priest vs Manders (Main Event)

This one’s a great show to write about, so the timing on this article is pretty good. Each match is worth a watch, and there’s something to please every wrestling fan in this episode. High-fliers, hard-hitters, long term rivalries, and even Adam Priest’s censored ass. What more could you want?

Our opening match this week features the reigning New South tag team champs (my boys Hunter Drake and Tyler Franks) going up against Suplex Science, the very formidable team of Damyan Tangra and Alex Kane. If you’re not too familiar with Tangra and Kane, check out episodes of Action Wrestling on IWTV as soon as you can, because the come-up these two guys have had this year has been a thrill to watch. Speaking of thrilling, New South never fails to open a show with a big, loud bang. Hunter and Tyler had a huge challenge from Suplex Science, and there were certain points in this match where it seemed as if Kane and Tangra very well may have walked away with the titles. Never count out those ‘Dega Knights, though, especially when they’re holding the gold and their drive is at full speed. An excellent opening match was featured this week, and as much as I dig Suplex Science as a team I was more than happy to see the Talladega boys retain the titles.

Kenzie Paige is NOT the one you want to try, but Mr. Miami Ice himself, Rolando Perez, was more than willing to put her to the test on this week’s episode. As a result, this match went way harder than I expected! The Huntsville crowd at the Furniture Factory was solidly behind Kenzie, and this seemed to incite Perez even further. The violence between the two combatants escalated to a fever pitch after Kenzie refused to stay down after Perez’s patented Knuckle Shot. He proceeded to punish Kenzie with a flurry of blows and refused to let up even after official intervention from the referee, leading to Perez’s disqualification and the victory awarded to Kenzie. All this did was enrage Perez even further, as he continued to attack Kenzie viciously after the bell rang to end the match. I’m very much looking forward to the rematch this weekend in Hartselle, as I think it’s time Kenzie got back a bit of her own in this brutal feud.

As far as feuds go, I wonder if we can graduate that term to ‘vendetta’ when it comes to Chris Crunk versus the Wasted Generation. It’s just progressed so much further than a feud after all this time! This week on Action Clash saw Crunk gather his own team to take on Shean Christopher, Sean Campbell, and Brayden Toon. A better team could not have been picked, either! Kevin Ryan along with Tyler Matrix and Logan James (the latter two best known together as Infrared) came to the ring as Crunk’s mystery team, ready to square off against Shean and his aggregation of aggression. This was one hell of a six man tag! Just when things looked bleak for Crunk’s mystery team as Kevin Ryan went for broke on a high risk move and accidentally took himself out of the match by doing so, Crunk stepped up to the plate and got in the ring as a worthy replacement. Definitely go back and check this match out if you missed it; Wasted Generation and Crunk/Ryan/Infrared brought the fire to this match with the victory ultimately going to Crunk and his team. Good vibes for the Crunk one, but I think we all know that Wasted Generation will most assuredly not take this loss sitting down!

The Action Clash main event this week saw big beefy Butt Meat himself, Manders, challenging the reigning New South champion Adam Priest for the gold. Speaking of butt meat, there’s plenty to go around in this match. I was quite entertained, to put it in a phrase! I’ve never had a chance to see a bullfighting match in person, but I figure that this match was the human equivalent of a technically skilled matador vs. one big-ass bull. Priest is a great ‘face of the company’ for New South as they’re moving into even greater heights as a promotion, and it’s a good time watching him take on the biggest and brightest of the independent wrestling scene to defend the precious Humungold. This was a solid main event that gave plenty of time for both Manders and Priest to show off technicality and brutality (and a little bit of ass as well) all at once. Great bout overall with Priest taking the pinfall win after catching Manders off guard in the middle of a three-point stance clothesline.

Hartselle, here I come, right back where they started from! This weekend’s events will be featured on this coming Tuesday’s episode, so start a rockin’ October out right and tune in to IWTV at 7 pm (you know, God’s appointed Central time, Bama time) for episode 56 of Action Clash!
