New South returned to its stomping grounds for this week’s episode of Action Clash!

Happy to say that I was in attendance for the grand return; this was one hell of a show to come back to. On a personal note, the whole night was an amazing one for me as a New South fan. Dump and the family always welcome me with open arms at every show I attend, and each time I head down to ‘Bama for the weekend I can count on feeling at home and safe enough to act a complete fool as I do!

Believe me, I got to the Civic Center ready to go wild that night. I’d mentioned how much I was ready to see Kenzie Paige get her much-deserved revenge against that bad, bad man Rolando Perez. She’s due to fire some shots on the man, after all! I’m sure Kenzie would agree, but the New South higher-ups didn’t quite support her on that sentiment. As a result, this week’s show ended in chaos! The matches from Tuesday night are listed below, and the great Carmen Michael and our good ol’ buddy Grease Monkey were back again on commentary:

- Vinny Pacifico vs. Cabana Man Dan

- New South Tag Team Championship Match: Talladega Knights (Tyler Franks & Hunter Drake) vs. The Body Shop (Johnny Pipes & Thunder Thighs)

- Sean Campbell vs. Chris Crunk

- Kenzie Paige vs. Rolando Perez

Whenever someone debuts in New South you can bet they’re going to go 100% from bell to bell. You can tell that’s the mindset that Vinny Pacifico brought all the way from New York City, because damn. I’ve only seen a few of his matches on the indie scene, but let me tell you this kid is something to see when you’re there live and in person. The trend of banger opening matches continues with our man CMD taking on the newcomer Vinny and showing him how it’s done down in New South. Watch this match and see Vinny show us some things from the city, too! I really enjoyed seeing this one from start to finish again this past Tuesday night; Vinny and Dan both looked at their peak in performance here. Great stuff that ended with CMD getting the win and Vinny getting the well-earned ‘Please Come Back!’ chant from the New South faithful.

Next up on this week’s episode we saw the Talladega Knights defending their tag team titles against The Body Shop. You know, at first glance I thought this would be a fun match; the Body Shop are a bunch of cool guys and they’d kick it up a notch going up against the Dega boys. I didn’t expect that they’d kick it up high enough to break the ceiling, however. I’m getting ahead of myself, though! The match even seemed to start off on a different level, because the strong work of Thunder Thighs was putting the champs to the test. Johnny Pipes didn’t waste any time showing off his more aggressive side, either. And then the champs themselves were on one, themselves! It looked like both Hunter Drake and Tyler Franks were more heated up than usual when the Knights were being tested in the roughest way by the Body Shop. However, when the champs were on point in this match, they didn’t miss. I really liked the shaken-up version of the Shake and Bake - be sure to check it out, both Hunter and Tyler switched places to devastating effect! It’s a moment like that, though, that made the finish of the match all the more surprising. The switch-up caused Hunter and Tyler some confusion over who was the legal man for the pin. Johnny Pipes did not waste a minute to capitalize on this mix-up, either - he caught Hunter Drake with a surprise pin and three count for the win! That’s right…NEW TAG TEAM CHAMPS! The Body Shop are New South’s newest tag team champions, and I couldn’t have been more devastated (and also impressed, somehow).

Congratulations to the new tag team champions, though! The stunning loss left the Talladega Knights in the ring long enough for Derek Neal to chime in his unmistakably harsh take from wherever he was that night, because he certainly gave Hartselle the cold shoulder! We all watched along with the Dega boys as Neal berated them for the loss of the titles with the not-so-subtle suggestion that both Hunter and Tyler join forces with the Cortège - not the best idea, in my opinion!

Chris Crunk continues to send messages of pain to Shean Christopher via the Wasted Generation, and it’s pretty damned enthralling to watch him take apart the team one by one just to get at the man he once fought alongside. This is one of my favorite ongoing New South feuds, and this week’s match with Sean Campbell going up against Crunk is something fantastic. Sean Campbell has brought his name to the forefront in New South in 2021 and I’m glad to see it; he took a beating in this match with Crunk but the kid’s lariat is strong and his talent is growing. Meanwhile Chris Crunk has just the right amount of dark appeal and in-ring skill that lets you know he’s completely capable of dismantling a whole team if it takes to get the match he wants. Shean Christopher is listening, though - and he’s more than ready to answer the call to the inevitable. The build throughout this feud is just what I like to see!

Feuds, indeed…speaking of feuds, there’s feuds and then there’s battles and then there’s WAR. What we saw at the conclusion of Episode 56? Friends, this is war! Kenzie Paige is not the one you want to go after, and I’ve got to say Rolando Perez has balls of steel to even attempt to test his might against this badass woman. He’s done so, though, and to great effect. I’ve never seen someone punish Kenzie as much as the Bad, Bad Man himself. That’s why I was so ready to see this match, right? After the beating Perez dished out to Kenzie in Episode 55, this was her time to get her comeuppance. Like I mentioned earlier, however, this would not be her night. Dump Sanders and Brandon Williams made it clear from the beginning of this week’s episode that Kenzie Paige wouldn’t be getting her match with Rolando Perez. That didn’t deter her one bit, though, as by the end of the show Kenzie was in the ring calling the man out! He didn’t hesitate to respond, either, and in minutes we were seeing the fight we came to see! Check out the end of the show to see this and the chair that was involved as well…it should have lasted much longer, but the New South officials quickly put an end to our good time by coming out to separate the two. Just when we were having fun!

Episode 56 was a fine return to form for New South in the Sparkman Civic Center. I’ll be seeing the crew again next weekend in Gadsden, Alabama, but I’m looking forward to coming back to Hartselle soon for another show! This week’s Action Clash is available on IWTV.live along with all of the other great New South shows in the VOD section, so be sure to catch up and give it all a worthwhile watch!
