The Krude Experience - Rev It Up

Rev It Up

Krüde back on the local music scene lately. Some great rock shows have been cruising through my neck of the woods. This time it was an old favorite of mine playing a venue 10 minutes from my crib: The Reverend Horton Heat. Rev is always on tour playing his style of rock n’ roll. Nice that he played so close to me. Aging has a way of hardening the tolerance for driving a long distance to see a show. Fuck it. I would drive 200 miles to see Rev if that was the only option. Word

As for the show…. The Koffin Kats came on before Rev. Great punky sound with stand up bass. Fun show. Check them out if they come near youse

Rev was typical Rev. I’ve been going to see him play since the early 1990s. Jimbo Wallace is still Rev’s right hand man in the band. One of the best slap bass slingers in the world. They opened the show with a instrumental from 1994 called Big Sky. Jim Heath aka The Reverend Horton Heat was the fabulous Gretsch guitar playing master of his craft he has always been. Hasn’t lost a step over time. Jonathan Jeter is the current drummer in the band. Solid, not flashy. Perfect player for this style of music. Tunes such as Psychobilly Freakout, 400 Bucks, Bales of Cocaine and Galaxy 500 were played with complete conviction. No fucking around for these gents. They ended the evening with the Motorhead anthem Ace of Spades. I filmed this for your amusement

All in all. A stellar rock n’ roll show. No pro tools. Or Auto Tune. Or backing tapes. Just musicians doing their thing.Live music the way it should be played: Totally live. Screw all those lip sync and backing tape motherfuckers who rip off the paying fans with their bullshit. Spend your $$$ on bands like The Reverend Horton Heat and The Koffin Kats. They are the real deal. Mahalo
