I fancy myself a heat connoisseur. So much so, I believe I gave myself a hiatal hernia. With health care super expensive I am doing what most people do: Ignore it and pound down the worst possible foods I can while I'm still alive.
The other day I saw a post on FB that wasn't completely fucking stupid. It was a post about First We Feasts collaboration with Pringles. Pringles has this subgenre of its normal Pringle Line called "Scorchin". Well, they brought in Hot Ones to help out - because, between you and I, the previous installments of the "Scorchin" series were "borchin". That's Boring combined with Scorchin, just in case you didn't get the comedy.
Anyways, most Pringles lack any kind of flavor, if you ask me. The iconic chip has falling on hard times in the taste game. Previous collabs with Wendys' have been lackluster at best. So I went into this with mega skeptiscm.
I tried the Los Calientes' Rojo flavor first. As I do with all pringles, I pulled about ten chips out and smashed them into my fucking face like I'd never ate food before.
This was a mistake on my part, and I'm man enough to admit that. These chips are fucking hot. While they lack in flavor, they do not lack in spice. I'm actually quite surprised how hot these were. Now, they weren't the hottest thing I've ever put in my mouth, the heat was twenty times above anything the "Scorchin" series has put out to date.
Now, the Verde probably should be consumed before the ROJO - it's a more subtle jaunt into the tastebud inferno. I was actually starting to write it off as not spicy at all, until it appeared there on my tongue mocking me. What ROJO lacked in flavor; Verde pulled off very nicely. There's this vibrant earthy flavor with constantly jabbing notes of heat.
I'm actually really impressed with this release; they advertised heat and brought it this time. I would say Verde is the winner, with a score of 4.1 out of five while Rojo gets a 2.9 out of five - but I'll buy more just because I'm a slut for heat.
