Hey ... long time no see. It's been a while since I jotted my thoughts down about the indie wrestling scene here at BumWineBob.com. The main reason being ... i kinda got burnt out on pro wrestling as a whole.
Plus beer.
Lots and lots of beer.
But something has happened recently that has really kind of grabbed my attention.
That being, FiteTV +.
Now, FiteTV has always dipped its toes into the indie wrestling world, but their latest moves seem to be a direct maneuver against IWTV.
Some of the promotions involved: GCW, BLP, AIW, Revolver and new entrant Paradigm Pro Wrestling. It was Paradigm's move that really made me wonder what was going on.
PPW was a big reason why I kept my IWTV subscription running. Just a really great company with that old school wrestling mentality that I truly love.
All the promotions mentioned are, I would believe, to be the "pillars" of the indie wrestling scene. It almost feels like FiteTV+ is quietly creating a satellite of promotions like the NWA used to be.
Oh, yeah, fuck you Billy Corgan, for what you've done to the National Wrestling Alliance.
Does FiteTV+ have visions of something bigger? Will we see the creation of the Indie Wrestling Championship? I know, I know .. IWTV already created one. Will that stop FiteTV+ from doing the same?
And if they do - what will the fans reaction be? IWTV still houses some great promotions. Limitless Wrestling, Prestige Wrestling and West Coast Pro to name a few.
Will this create a new buzz for the indie wrestling scene? Will we see a war of wrestling streaming?
It's just a very interesting development to me. Maybe it's the beer.
