Happy Forty Friday and welcome to the newest feature at bumwinebob.com! If you listened to the BWB Podcast last Sunday, you heard that I would be starting a new feature called the "Forty Of The Week" or "FOTW". This will be similar to the BWOTW, where we will be putting the spotlight a 40 ounce beverage. This can be: malt liquor, beer, or really anything that can be purchased in a 40oz bottle. There are no limits here. If you can buy it, we will feature it! I don't want you to wait any longer, and lets get to the first feature!
Coming in at 8.1%, a high gravity lager, the classic 211 itself, Steel Reserve! They tell me that it is slow brewed for exceptionally smooth flavor right there on the bottle, so how can you go wrong?
With the extra malted barley & select hops for extra gravity, you will feel like you are floating in space in no time! Sadly, Steel Reserve can no longer be found in the classic glass bottles and are now in shatter proof plastic. It doesn't feel quite the same drinking a 40 out of a plastic bottle, but I can see why it was done. No one wants to spend their last $2.49 on a glass 40oz bottle only to drop it and see it shatter on the ground right in front of you. For that I applaud them for making the change, but otherwise I do not agree.
