AEW DYNAMITE | EPISODE 13 | ORIGINAL AIR DATE: 1/2/2020 | KENNY OMEGA & THE YOUNG BUCKS V. PAC & THE LUCHA BROTHERS

This felt like the show I signed up for. Very quick paced with nothing that made me scratch my head in horror or wonder if Klondike Bill would gif something. Though, there certainly a meme moment that has captured the hearts and minds of #Wrestling twitter.

Really loved the Cody/Allin rematch. It was a very welcome addition to their earlier match up, but this time Allin hit that Coffin Drop. The women had a really quality four way battle for the belt. Riho held on to her title and will face Kris Statlander next week, I believe.

One of the big angles of the week saw Penelope Ford nail former boyfriend Joey Janela in the nuts, then walking off with new boyfriend Kip Sabian. Janela had gone on record stating he'd never work an angle with Ford, so the fact that he took a nut-shot for her shows that he'll do anything for the AEW brand. Dark Order video package, not much to it, probably trying to move that along so as to forget the phantom punches. Jon Moxley and Trent had a pretty decent match that saw Moxley go over.

Next we had Chris Jericho, via video, offer Moxley a Ford GT with a vanity plate and a position of executive VP of The Inner Circle. Mox said he'd give his answer next week, which you know pissed off 51% of twitter.

Dustin Rhodes put over Sammy Guevara, albeit by hijinx. While the ref wasn't looking Jake Hager jumped in and low blow on Rhodes. We get thrown to the back where Hangman Page was bar tending, and arguing with Private Party.

MJF with Wardlow in tow, cut a promo on Cody. MJF says he's got a few tiny stips for Cody, if Cody wants a match:

Stipulation 1: They wrestle at Revolution. If Cody touches MJF before the Revolution show, no match.

Stipulation 2: Cody has to beat Wardlow in a solid steel cage match.

Stipulation 3: Cody has to get on all fours and let MJF whip him ten times live on TNT.

Britt Baker interrupted a Riho interview, by stating the same thing twice. At least, I think she said the same thing twice - my audio cut out and I was ten deep on the big boy beverages. Baker seems to have lost a bit of the skip in her step that I found really great. I think she's down on herself. Anyone else see that?

Hangman Page came to commentary. He was clearly drunk but AEW posted a graphic for those who've never been around someone who's been intoxicated. I think this was my favorite part of the show. That says more about me than it does you, don't worry.

And predictably, we have a great match with Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks v. PAC & The Lucha Brothers. The key takeaway is that Omega and The Bucks actually won. When was the last time all of them secured victories on the same card? This brought out Cody, for a celebration. They wanted Page to come join them, but he declined. Probably because he couldn't walk.

Per Wrestling Observer Radio's Dave Meltzer, the ice felt by All Elite Wrestling from the higher up's of New Japan Pro Wrestling has thawed a bit as we get closer to Wrestle Kingdom 14. Meltzer said on today's show that in the past there was to be no mention of "that new company,". But things have certainly changed. What exactly that means, that isn't clear.

Personally, as soon as AXS didn't renew the NJPW tv contract, that told me the writing was on the wall for New Japan to swallow it's pride and open the lines of communication with Tony Khan. New Japan needs TV if they want to see their American tours succeed.

The really interesting thing is this: Chris Jericho and Jon Moxley will be there in Japan, that was already scheduled. Moxley left after Dynamite concluded ... did anyone go with him - that's the question.
