AEW Dynamite | Episode 14 | 1/8/20 | Lander's Center | South Haven, Mississippi

Never in my life did I think I’d look forward to Wednesday nights but here we are, and I really do. AEW Dynamite just gave me a new love for wrestling that had been lacking the past few years. Tonight’s episode was just as good as every other one has been so far.
I’ll just add that of course anytime MJF is on the show it’s that much better. That’s just my extremely biased opinion.
The first match was Omega and Page vs Private Party. Private Party are so damn entertaining I can watch them all day. Page and Omega being a team was awkward as expected considering how shady Page has been recently. Especially after not getting in the ring with the Elite last week.
He probably drank a little too much to be fair though.
Either way, Omega and Page picked up the win and then we see PAC backstage on Nakazawa, demanding his rematch with Kenny.
Next up was Riho vs Kris Statlander for the AEW Women’s Championship with Brandi on commentary. I think both are great competitors and Kris is most definitely a powerhouse with a bright future ahead. The match was going good until Awesome Kong and Mel, (who I had no idea her name until the moment she came out), showed up and caused interference. Then, of course, Brandi heads down to the ring to confront Kris and Luther shows up. Ok. I don’t know who Luther is. The outcome was Riho kept her title due to interference. An unpopular opinion maybe but I enjoy the Nightmare Collective idea. It’s dark and different. I’ll take it. Although I thought this match shouldn’t have been interrupted.
We also get a video package from Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford. I like these two together and the feud with Joey Janela has my interest.
Christopher Daniels vs Sammy Guevara. Decent match. I like “The Spanish God” and expect to see a lot more from him. He’s young, quick, and athletic. After Pentagon interrupts the match, pretty much mocking Daniels, Sammy picks up the win.
Then Dark Order comes out trying to get Christopher Daniels to join them. While they do make a good case for him, he doesn’t want to join. The crowd didn’t want it either. Dark Order attacks him, then Young Bucks and SCU come out to even the numbers.
The Lucha Brothers vs The Brotherhood (Cody and Dustin) with Arn Anderson ringside, was a fun match. Cody comes out, as always, to adoring cheers from the crowd and seems unbothered by MJF’s stipulations. Arn does his job ringside and helps The Brotherhood pick up the win. On a side note I personally would’ve liked to see The Lucha brothers get the win here.
Now we finally get to see what Cody’s response to MJFs stipulations is. Arn speaks for Cody and lets us know Cody wants the match. But that’s all we get. So, we still don’t know what’s going to happen there until next week, hopefully.
We see Lanny Poffo backstage to honor his father and brother. Looking forward to seeing some more honoring of Legends on AEW Dark.
Now it’s time for The Salt of the Earth to make his presence known. He comes out with Wardlow to nothing but boos, as expected. After throwing his gum at a fan, making Justin Roberts kiss his ring, hitting a fan with a sign, and giving the finger to the Legends at ringside, he finally gets in the ring. The heat MJF can create is unreal.
He gets on the mic and asks Cody to come out but gets DDP instead. DDP cuts a promo on tv but I don’t know what it was about because as he’s talking, a notification pops up that MJF just tweeted. On live tv. In the ring. He’s a damn king. After that he insults DDP.
The Butcher, The Blade and The Bunny end up coming out, as they are on MJF’s payroll of course.
MJF gives DDP two options:
Kiss the ring and leave “his” company
Or
MJF will take one of DDPs daughters to his bedroom and…well you know.
MJF gets well deserved “ASSHOLE” chants for attacking DDP. But at the end of the day MJF is better than us. And we know it. I hope to kiss that ring someday.
The last match is Jungle Express vs Best Friends. This is by far my favorite match of the night. My favorite move is Orange Cassidy’s suicide dive with his hands in his pockets. I love it. Jungle Express is the perfect combination of wrestlers. Marko Stunt doesn’t let his size stop him. He’s talented and I enjoy watching him wrestle. Jungle Boy ends up picking up this win. Great match.
It’s finally time to find out if Moxley is going to join The Inner Circle. Jericho shows Moxley the car keys reminding him he gets that $750k car if he joins. Moxley tells Jericho he can’t be bought but surprisingly accepts Jericho’s offer and joins The Inner Circle. Moxley lets everyone know he wants to dominate, and he can do that by joining forces with Jericho and taking the keys to the car.
My mind kept saying, Moxley doesn’t seem like the type to join Inner Circle…maybe his wife wanted the car? Either way he was in with “you sold out” chants from the crowd…until the plot twist.
Moxley then says he was kidding and would not be joining The Inner Circle. He hits Jericho with a bottle, gets Sammy out of the way, and heads out. Car keys in hand. Fantastic unexpected ending.
Overall great show. 2 hours sure go by fast. Looking forward to the next Dynamite episode!
