Another Chance To Chase A Dream

It's poetic in someway. You know, to leave at the height of your popularity due to injury and come back having never lost that shine. But you don't look the same and you probably won't talk the same and you won't move the same.

Even if the spear looks better and the rust looks minimal. Every move you make now is for a reason. Deliberate. An act of remission.

Reason. That's an important word in this second chapter of Adam Copeland, better known as Edge. By now you know Edge returned to World Wrestling Entertainment during their annual Royal Rumble last night.

When his theme song exploded from the sound system in Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas the wrestling world exploded with it. And with good reason: One of the real good guys had returned. And I'm not talking about the world of heels and faces. I'm talking about the world of assholes and heroes.

Copeland is a hero.

Nine years ago he told us goodbye in a very emotional, surprising night on RAW. He was at the very peak of his professional career with only bigger and bigger matches on the horizon.

Then, in the fake world of professional wrestling, reality knocked on Copelands door. Messed up neck. Spine issues. I'm not a doctor, i'm not going to go into all the medical business of this story. What I know is we lost an important piece of professional wrestling.

Copeland has that innate ability to mix comedy and badassery together that creates this super cool mega star. Think Kevin Nash, only cooler with less assery.

It had been rumored for a while now that Edge would return. Once the podcast has ended and he'd started growing his hair out, I knew it was true. I had figured it'd be a one off to pop a number for a company that is seeking something positive outside it's bottom line.

Copeland signed a 3-year deal and will be back on tv regularly. While one will always wonder what he'd have accomplished in those nine years of missed time; we can now dream of what the future holds.

"I'll never long for what might have been
And now regret won't waste my life again
I won't look back
I'll fight to remain"
