Ring of Honor TV Review: Episode 440

Ring of Honor TV: Episode 440
By Dylan Hager

Time for another great hour of Ring of Honor Wrestling!

This week starts with a Slex vignette. Business is booming! He'll be in tonight's main event against Flip Gordon.

We go to just one half of Team IQ, as Quinn McKay is the only host this week. She previews the rest of tonight's show including Vincent and Bateman vs Hendry and Castle and Mark Haskins vs Alex Shelly. All of tonight's matches are from the Free Enterprise show earlier this month.

Mark Haskins vs Alex Shelly
I love this match. Both Haskins and Shelly are such great technical wrestlers. Great back and forth match. Shelly almost had it won with a sliced bread and and a spinning flatliner like move, but Haskins kicked out and won with a sharpshooter. Expect great thins from Haskins in 2020. Winner: Mark Haskins

Next we see a Vincent promo package.

Quinn is backstage with Dalton Castle and Joe Hendry. Dalton says he is spooky, and Joe talks about the run they have been on. Honestly, Joe and Dalton are one of the most entertaining acts in ROH.

Back from a commercial, Quinn is with Haskins and Tracy Williams. Haskins says he is focused on winning the world title. Hot Sauce doesn't really say anything. Dissension is Lifeblood maybe?

Dalton Castle and Joe Hendry vs Vincent and Bateman
Good match here, but nothing special. Vincent and Bateman pick up the win after interference from Chuckles. I really love Dalton and Joe. I think they could have something with Vincent and his group of misfits, but it could also go downhill quick. Winner: Vincent and Bateman

Quinn is backstage with Slex. He talks about his debut match with Flip Gordon.

Vincent promo backstage. He's just creepy and cult leader like enough for this to work.

Back to Quinn! She hypes up the upcoming shows through Supercard of Honor. Next week we'll have The Briscoes vs Bandido and Flamita! That match ruled. Can't wait for the TV audience to see that one!

Slex vs Flip Gordon
I really enjoyed this match. Great TV main event. Slex looked great in his company debut, but he just couldn't put away Flip. He came close with a torture rack bomb, but Flip kicked out at two. Flip picked up the win with a Curb Stomp. I think it is kind of weird too have Slex lose his debut, but Flip needs the win heading into his eventual title shot. Very good match! Soldiers of Savagery and Shane Taylor layed out Slex after the match. Winner: Flip Gordon

Very good week of TV. Loved the first and last matches. ROH is in a real good spot right now.
