XFL Week 4: Preview

XFL Week Four Preview
by Dennis DuBay

L.A. Wildcats at NY Guardians

The battle of 1-2 teams doesn't feel like a marquee matchup to me, but it could be the most fun of the four tilts this week - you never know what drama will unfold in a Guardians game.

Matt McGloin has been entertaining (probably in a bad way if your a NY fan), however he may not be a factor in this one. He wasn't able to practice fully this week, struggling with a thorax injury. Look for a heavy run dominated offense this week from NY.

On the other side of the field, Josh Johnson has been nearly perfect for the Wildcats, with 5 TD and 0 INT for a 113.9 QB rating.

With NY's inability to score, averaging 10.7 points per game, this one could get ugly.

Prediction: LA 33, NY 13

Seattle Dragons at St. Louis BattleHawks

No doubt the city of St. Louis is in love with their Battlehawks who sit at the top of the Eastern division of the league, tied with the DC Defenders at 2-1.

The BattleHawks have given up a league low five touchdowns this season, while RB Matt Jones has carved up the league through the first three weeks with 224-yards rushing.

Seattle has found it hard to score, averaging just 14 points a game - QB Brandon Silvers has been serviceable, tossing six touchdowns for the Dragons. If they can hold onto the ball, they have a chance. You want to keep that crowd in The Dome quiet any chance you can.

Prediction: St. Louis 29, Seattle 16

Houston at Dallas

The Houston Roughnecks are the last of the undefeated teams in the XFL. They'll head down the road to challenge the 2-1 Dalla Renegades. The Renegades have won their last two games after losing their home opener.

P.J. Walker has been terrific this season, with 10 TD to just 1 INT for a QB rating of 112.7, while Landry Jones has been serviceable for the Renegades.

For Dallas to have any chance in this one, they have to come out strong, quickly. That said, I don't see them shutting down Walker/Phillips.

Prediction: Houston 31, Dallas 21

DC at Tampa Bay

The Vipers are still in search of their first victory in 2020. The lone club still seeking such victory. Tampa Bay is -5 in TD+. Taylor Cornelius will take snaps for the Vipers, while Cardale Jones will lead the Defenders offense.

Cardale has had an up-in-down season, showing signs of quality play, but not being able to get away from the turnover bug, throwing five picks in three games.

The key to victory is slowing down De'Veon Smith and keeping him out of the endzone. He's do for a big game.

Prediction: DC 28, T.B. 14
