To Drink or Not to Drink? - Dark Horse High Gravity Lager Ice

We all have the one that got away, and when it comes to alcohol there is no exception. It was on March 14, 2015 that I came across the infamous Dark Horse High Gravity Lager for the first and only time. I do not remember where I found it, or how much it cost, but I was never able to find it again.

It was after the annual venison dinner (Or was it before? Honestly I don't remember since many beers were consumed that night.) that we made a stop at a liquor store to pick up some beers to enjoy after the dinner. While doing my usual thorough searching for the perfect beer, I came across the Dark Horse sitting in the cooler. I had never seen or heard of this beer before, but the can drew me to it. At this time we were just one year into bumwinebob.com and only a month into the Bumming with Bobcat podcast, so we had yet to start featuring beers of the week. Dark Horse is a high gravity lager, but it's also an ICE beer? So many questions to be answered with this one.

How did it taste? From what I can remember it wasn't that bad of a drink, but I can't say that with 100% certainty. Unfortunately it seems like Dark Horse High Gravity Lager is no longer in production. The last wave of check-ins on Untappd was in 2016 with only one lone 2018 check-in. Ever since that faithful day in 2015 that I drank Dark Horse High Gravity Lager for the first time I always go searching for it hoping that I can find it once again, but always come up empty handed. Dark Horse High Gravity Lager will forever be known as the one that got away.

Verdict: Unknown
