To drink or not to drink? That's the question we will try to answer every Tuesday at bumwinebob.com as we take a look at some beverages that might not be able to get bWb feature of the week billing, but are still worthy of an honorable mention. It also gives us a chance to take a look at some beverages that might be best to stay away from in your travels unless you are feeling adventurous. These don't have to be beverages new to the market, they could be from the bWb archives that were only consumed as a one off, but still have a story behind them, either good or bad.
This brings us to our first "To Drink or Not to Drink?" feature with Bud Light Lemonade and Bud Light Lemon Tea. I came across these two in my travels recently when I was looking for a potential summertime beverage that I could crack open with Aaron and Uncle for my appearance on Uncle (the podcast). Both sounded like great choices to give that summer vibe. The Bud Light Lemonade sounded like a summer shandy type beer, and Bud Light Lemon Tea could possibly be a iced tea/lemonade beer mix.
After a Saturday afternoon of mowing the lawn and yard work, it was time to crack open the Bud Light Lemonade. BLL is refreshing with a small hint of lemon, but not too overpowering. Tastes somewhat similar to a Summer Shandy as I had expected, so overall it is a good summer afternoon drink.
Verdict: To Drink!
Now the Bud Light Lemon Tea is a different story. For a beverage that I thought could have potential, it certainly did not turn out that way. As soon as i cracked open the can and gave it the sniff test, I knew it wasn't going to be well received. I can see the argument for wanting to make a lemon tea flavored beer, but Bud Light Lemon Tea is not the answer. Sure, if you enjoy something that tastes like a flat twisted tea seltzer combination, this is the drink for you, but otherwise I would stay far away from this one.
Verdict: NOT to Drink!
