Fresh Linen Scent: The Clean Sheet Volume 1, Issue 5

 by @olskoololfool

Welcome to the wrestling “newsletter” with #NoDirtHere: only fun, “what-ifs?” and positives...The Clean Sheet!  A rotating series of mini-features here will highlight all sorts of things in the world of pro wrestling: people making change in the sport, charity and fund-raising efforts, trail blazers of the present, a bit of fantasy-booking, my personal fan experience and much more!   So breathe deeply, relax and inhale the wonderful scent of fresh linen: The Clean Sheet.

In this edition we bring you another Terrific Ten in two wildly different Forward Fives and some things you may wanna check out while chilling in front of a screen, like you are now.  Let's get to it!

Forward Five with…Cabana Man Dan

The Forward Five is a five static question mini-interview asked of those wrestlers & promotions

who have been trail blazers, wave makers and agents of change. A definite wave maker as of the

last few months, the man who all roads in the South lead to, Cabana Man Dan has been making

all sorts of glorious noise. The master of the flip-flop chop has been the new standard in New

South as one of the proud to sport the belt affectionately and accurately referred to as

“Humongold”. Catch him and the other greats in New South every Tuesday night on IWTV’s

“Action Clash”.

1.  Please sum up your wrestling persona in one sentence.

Cabana Man Dan: “Fun loving evergreen good guy that is lighthearted, unorthodox wrestling

style/storytelling, but knows when to take it to the next gear.”

2.  What would you like to immediately change in the world of pro wrestling?

Cabana Man Dan: “Continue to make wrestling inclusive to everyone actively pursuing a

career and legitimately trying to make it. Give more people true chances when they deserve it

versus when it’s overdue. More people need to have Southern wrestling in the conversation with

other regional top promotions. I personally think Southern wrestling is the best wrestling. You

can sprinkle that style and match aspect with any technique and it works.”

3.  What change(s) are you actively pursuing in the world of pro wrestling?

Cabana Man Dan: “I’m actively transforming my physical fitness, the way my body looks,

wrestling matches how I truly want to and not having to conform to what people expect from me

with what they’ve seen for 15 years.”

4.  Who do you think deserves a shout-out/praise in the world of pro wrestling?

Cabana Man Dan: “Dump Sanders, the promoter of New South. One of the founders of the

company, brought me back into independent wrestling after a 6-year hiatus in 2016. The team

there is a tight family and we’ve been working hard to carve out our path to being one of the

great current promotions in indie wrestling. I truly believe I would have never come back into

the scene without him. Others I gotta shout out are Donnie Janela and O’Shay Edwards. Both

these men help push me harder and don’t take phoning it in as acceptable behavior. Donnie is

my top critic, but it’s because he knows I can do better with whatever I do. O’Shay helped my

confidence so much and pushed me from accepting what is given to taking what I deserve.”

5.  The dreaded and super annoying question #5: Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?

Cabana Man Dan: “Five years from now I’ll be at the big 4-0. I believe I will still be heavily

involved with pro wrestling. I’ve just got my feet wet in training the next wrestlers of tomorrow.

My long-long term goal with wrestling is to have a career in training/coaching, production,

behind the scenes. I’m currently training to become a fitness trainer. Probably wrestling still!”

Now (Virtually) Live!

In this corner of The Clean Sheet, we will highlight those wrestlers and promotions who have

branched into the wide-open frontier of the interwebz. Who's all out there streaming? Where can

I find them? What are they actually streaming? Answers to those questions will all be presented

here in “Now (Virtually) Live”!

EFFY: wrestler, trail-blazer, marketing genius (see: Effy Award) and…streamer? A resounding

yes to all of the above and he’s been killing it on each of these separate fronts. A mix of gaming

and pro wrestling watch-along events such as #MondayNOTRaw and the new IWTV-fueled

Wednesday afternoon show, his channel has grown exponentially as of late. Catch it all at

EFFYLives on Twitch.

Brody King of ROH is a man of many interests, and his channel on Twitch reflects that.

Wrestling watch-along events are also a staple here as well as some cooking videos. The

highlight of his schedule for many is his chat streams on Wednesdays with WWE’s Aleister

Black. The big Lucha Monster can be found at BrodyxKing on Twitch.

Highspots Wrestling Network showcases a variety of fun wrestling content from their library

constantly on their channel. It’s a great place to see many “shoot interviews” as they often play

episodes of Ego’s Amigos, The Kevin Steen Show and Best Friends. If you enjoy and want

more than what their Twitch offers, you can subscribe to their streaming service as well. Find

them at HighspotsWrestlingNetwork on Twitch.

Impact Wrestling has a channel on Twitch very similar in purpose to that of Highspots: They’d

love you to sign up for their streaming service, Impact Plus. What is here for content is plenty of

old TNA action, simulcasts of Impact every week on Tuesday nights and much more.

Occasionally, they have also streamed live events. Their home on Twitch is at

IMPACTWrestling.

For all the deathmatch fans, No Peace Underground has been live-streaming their no-ring

events on Twitch. I don’t believe they have archives, so you have to catch it live or with two

weeks of the show. They are always a wild time and they get great performers to come down to

Florida from all over. Their next event, “Body Count Battle” is 11/12 at 8 PM Eastern. Watch at

NoPeaceUndergroundFL on Twitch.

Forward Five with...BIG CALLUX

The Forward Five is a five static question mini-interview asked of those who have been trail

blazers, wave makers and agents of change.  BIG CALLUX goes into the category of, well, BIG.  The man-monster has made a BIG impact any time he's stepped into the ring and will soon be making his debut on Limitless Wrestling's series “The Road” on IWTV.  So what exactly does the big boi Lucha practitioner have to say for himself?  Will it be in all CAPS?  Read on, brave souls...

BIG CALLUX: “THE BIG LOUD MASSIVE MAN MONSTER.

2.  What would you like to immediately change in the world of pro wrestling?

BIG CALLUX: “SEE ABOVE. ALSO BIG CALLUX. WANTS TO DO MORE FLIPS.

4.  Who do you think deserves a shout-out or some praise in the world of pro wrestling?
