Is there anything to be thankful for?

Sitting down and thinking about what your thankful for would seem a daunting task in the year 2020 - but, if you wipe away the sarcasm and cynicism from your eyes for just a moment in time, a new perspective can be seen as fleeting as it may seem.

There are actually so many things to be thankful for. If you are reading this, you are alive. And while the darkest days of our existence may still be right around the corner, for today we live in daily battles that survival is victory alone.

Hopefully you have food on the table, or at least in the fridge or pantry. Not because this day is any different then tomorrow or the next.

Let me share with you what I'm most thankful for, this year.

I am thankful for my two daughters, there loving mother and their amazing step-Dad who make sure that the two most important things in my life never feel unloved or alone.

I am thankful for my family and friends who have stuck by myside in a year that has been extremely difficult, mentally for me.

I am thankful for Bob - for allowing me this platform, to write whatever I want to write, whether he agrees or disagrees.

I am thankful for the writers who write every week, for this site. They do so because of passion. This site would be a shell of itself without Tiffany, Don, Olskool, Tiffany (Yes, we seem to have a Tiffany fetish here), Krude, Geno, Eric and joining the staff, my newest best friend Kennedi Copeland.

I'm thankful for Maria - who, for some reason, continues to do a podcast with a guy who's moody as fuck 99% of the time.

I am thankful for the Indies. If not for them, 2020 would have been worse. Companies that were able to keep working, kept the business alive. I believe that 100%. And it's not a slight on the promotions that couldn't. I understand why some couldn't, why some didn't.

But companies like GCW, Limitless, Pizza Party, Synergy, Black Label and IWTV, just to name a few - made sure that wrestlers didn't go completely bankrupt - and I know some did, or will, and will have to follow their dreams elsewhere.

I'm thankful for the promoters and the wrestlers who answer my DM's, who grant me their time - the act is not lost upon me.

And I'm thankful for the readers, the listeners, who read what we write - who listen to my horrible voice. This year we all went through it - and while it felt very alone most of the time, somehow we keep finding each other in these virtual buildings and for those moments we're not alone.

As toxic as the internet can be at times, there's also a great community that can be found.

Oh, and I'm most thankful for Beer and Pizza. Because I've got my priorities straight.

Here's to a hopefully better 2021.

  1. Well. Fucking. Said. I'm so glad to have met you, talked wresting (and some trash) with you on Twitter, and to be part of the site. Here's to 2021 (because it just possibly can't get any worse).
