Season 2 Finale of The Road Recap by Don Halliwell

Delmi Exo vs Becca

The leader of the scrunchie squad, Becca, opened season 2 against Ashley Vox and now faces the other member of the Sea Stars , one of the boys, Delmi Exo, in the finale.  They exchange holds early and Becca shows what she has learned in the past year.  Delmi tries to use her experience advantage, but Becca is able to counter every move.  Becca avoids a strike from Delmi with a bridge, but Delmi has apparently been watching Becca, as she has seen that before and  she chops her in the midsection.   They exchange pinfall attempts before Becca is able to surprise Delmi with a flying back elbow.  Becca hits a bulldog out of the corner, but that just seems to upset Delmi as she hits multiple forearms followed by a big boot, then locks in an ancle lock.  Becca is able to get to the ropes, but Delmi stays on the attack and goes after her leg.   Delmi puts Becca’s leg on the ropes and hits it with a dropkick. She lays into Becca with some big chops, but Becca will not stay down. Becca comes back with a flurry of offense.  She starts with a back elbow in the corner followed by an upper cut, a kick to the head, then a rana out of the corner and a spinning heel kick for a near fall.  Becca’s knee still appears to be bothering her, but she is able to get Delmi up and drops her headfirst on her knee.  Becca goes for the acrobatic slap, but Delmi catches her with a kick.  Becca should have known that there is no time for moves like that when you are in the ring with someone like Delmi Exo.   Delmi puts Becca on the top rope but Becca fights back and hits a sit-down power bomb in the middle of the ring for a near fall.  She follows this up with 2 kicks and goes for a third, but Delmi catches it and locks in an acle lock.  Becca tires to get to the ropes but Delmi switches the hold to an STF.  Becca is able to get to the ropes this time, but does not get any time to recover as Delmi immediately pulls her back to the middle of the ring and lays her out with a pedigree.  To Delmi’s surprise, Becca is able to kick out at two.  They are now exchanging strikes in the middle of the ring.  Delmi has the strength advantage but Becca does not back down.  They exchange superkicks, then hit each other with clotheslines and land on top of each other for a draw.  This match was so even that we still do not have an answer on who is the better wrestler.  We all know how great Delmi is and Becca showed how incredibly tough she is.  This is a rematch that we would all want to see in season three.

Love Doug vs Mike Gamble

Both wrestlers are looking for their first win.   LD begins the match by talking about love, but Gamble is not having any of it and flies at him with a dropkick to open the match.  He follows this up by squashing LD in the corner and throwing him across the ring.  LD tries to get Gamble off his feet multiple times with no luck and Gamble counters with an arm drag and back body drop.  LD goes to the outside, but Gamble comes after him and throws him back in the ring.   LD angers Gamble by throwing rose petals in his face.  LD may have actually had a plan, as he avoids an angry charging Gamble, who goes shoulder first into the ring post.  LD takes advantage of this by throwing Gamble shoulder first into the turnbuckles and then driving Gamble’s arm down on his knees.  Gamble tries to lift LD up, but LD is able to get out, as Gamble is still favoring his arm.  LD tries to take advantage but is caught with an elbow.  LD counters with a dropkick, driving Gamble to the outside, where it looks like he hit his arm. LD follows this up with a cross body onto Gamble on the floor, then rolls him back in the ring. LD lays in some punches and kicks while singing “Do you feel the love tonight”.  Love Doug is awfully cocky for someone who is yet to win a match.  He goes for a monkey flip, but Gamble catches him.  Gamble gets LD in the wheelbarrow position, but LD counters with a DDT. LD goes for the pin, but Gamble kicks out at two.   LD charges at Gamble but gets met with multiple palm strikes, followed by a cross body.  Gamble squashes LD with the hip attack, then gets LD up but LD turns it into a sleeper on Gambles back.  Gamble is able to power out and drops LD with a Samoan drop to get his first win.

The Hive (Hermit Crab, Travis Huckabee, Callux, Leary and Boomer Hatfield) Vs Team Limitless ( Nick Stapp, Dangerkid, Tyree Taylor, Kirby Wackerman and Johnny Miyagi

Everyone jumps in the ring and starts fighting to begin the match, spilling out to floor into complete chaos.  It eventually turns into an actual tag team match as Boomer and Kirby Wackerman face off in the ring.  Kirby gets the advantage with a body slam and a diving headbutt.  Tags are made and Dangerkid and Callux come into the ring.   Callux is able to keep up with DK’s athleticism but gets caught with a dropkick and makes the tag to Leary.  Tyree Taylor also comes in the ring and lays through Leary with a huge shoulder block.  He drives Leary into Team Limitless’ corner and Nick Stapp comes in.  He gets the better of Leary, but Leary is able to sneak away and get the tag to Hermit Crab.  The crab gets the pinchers in, but Stapp is able to escape, hits a drop kick and gets a near fall.  Stapp makes the tag to Miyagi and they hit a double drop kick.  Hermit Crab tries to run at Miyagi in the corner, but he gets a boot up and hits a flying axe handle.  Huckabee comes in and hits a flying uppercut followed by a German Suplex, giving The Hive the advantage.  Leary comes in and drops Miyagi to the mat and Callux hits a big splash on him.  Now it is Boomer’s turn with Miyagi.  He starts laying in some strikes and Miyagi gets caught in the ropes after a drop kick.  The Hive take advantage and Boomer gets a near fall.  The Hive is making quick tags and Hermit Crab hits a crab walk elbow.   Miyagi is finally able to escape the grasps of Leary and makes the tag to Stapp, who comes in with a flurry of offense.   Stapp picks up Kirby and uses him as a weapon on the members of The Hive until Callux catches him and throws Kirby into Stapp.  Callux obliterates Kirby with a BIG chokeslam for a near fall.  He then flips Boomer onto Kirby, but Kirby is able to kick out again.  Boomer hits multiple elbows on Kirby, then makes the tag to Travis who works over Kirby’s legs.  Kirby makes his way to the ropes, but Travis starts working over his arm.  Kirby finally makes the tag to Taylor who lays into Travis, then puts him on the top turnbuckle and throws him across the ring.  Dangerkid comes in and gets on Taylor’s back for the assisted senton.  Taylor comes back in and goes face to face with Callux, but before they can lock up Leary hits Taylor from behind and now everyone fighting on the floor.  Miyagi tries to dive on Callux, but Callux catches him and slams him onto the floor.  Boomer dives onto Taylor and takes him, along out others, to the ground.  DK then dives and takes out everyone but Callux, who is in the middle of the ring and hits a suicide dive on everyone.  Callux throws DK to Hermit Crab in the ring, but the Crab is not the legal person.  Callux comes back in an gets welcomed with a running knee from DK.  Boomer gives DK a quick Falcon’s arrow, but Stapp takes out Boomer.  However, Stapp gets caught by Leary with a flatliner and a twisting DDT.  This is moving very fast with all 10 people involved.  Kirby hits Leary with a missile  headbutt.  Travis tries to take Kirby out with a headbutt of his own but Kirby answers with a pump handle slam.  Hermit Crab comes from behind and takes Kirby out with a choke slam, but Hermit Crab is met with a huge uranage by Taylor.  Callux and Taylor face off and hit clotheslines on each other.  Miyagi gets the tag and gets Hermit Crab up for a  vertical suplex then a double stomp.  He goes for the pin, but Leary pulls the ref out of the ring.  Miyagi has Hermit Crab in a submission as the others fight on the outside.  The Hive take out all other members of Team Limitless on the outside and surround Miyagi in the ring.  Boomer throws Miyagi to Leary who hits a spinebuster, then Miyagi receives headbutts from Boomer and Travis followed by a Black Hole Slam by Callux.  Hermit Crab gets him in a Boston Crab and Magi is forced to tap.  The Hive stand tall at the end of season 2 and state that they are here to stay.

Season 3 will begin on Wednesday, February 24th at 7pm on IWTV, but before we look forward let’s take a look at some of my favorite things from season 2.

The Hive was a great addition to the Limitless roster and have shown that they are in Limitless to stay.  Season 2 had some great debuts as Katie Arquette and Andrew Palace both won their debut singles matches.  Unfortunately, Arquette then ran into a red hot Davienne later.  Davienne has been one of the stars of this season, having matches with Arquette, Love Doug, Travis Huckabee and Alec Price.  We also got a peak into the absolutely insane world of Kaiju Big Battle and saw Becca rise to become a star, having fantastic matches against Paris Van Dale and both members of the Sea Stars.

Some of my favorite matches from season 2 are:

Logan Black vs Kennedi Copeland (episode 5)

Bobby Orlando vs Slade (episode 6)

Paris Van Dale vs Becca (episode 8)

Christian Casanova vs Alec Price (episode 9)

The Sea Stars vs The Higher Society (episode 10)

Davienne vs Travis Huckabee (episode 11)

See you in a couple weeks for a whole new season!
