Seems like the right time for a Revolution ... A Women's Wrestling Revolution, that is.

So, let me ask you a question. If I told you in late 2019 or early 2020 that indie wrestling would lose Tessa Blanchard, Kylie Rae, Kris Statlander and Thunder Rosa and be in BETTER shape then ever in mid 2021, what would you have said?

You'd have called me crazy. You would have called me insane. I think - maybe some of you saw this coming. Maybe It was I that wasn't paying attention.

Talent like Erica Leigh, Jordan Blade and Trish Adora have burst upon the scene seemingly out of nowhere during the COVID19 pandemic and helped veterans like Ashley Vox, Delmi Exo and Davienne usher in the next era of women's independent wrestling.

Before you read on, I want to stop for a second and mention this isn't a typical review or recap of the show - I'd rather you watch the show to ge the full scope of the show - WWR talent deserve that.

Here are just a few of my thoughts:

Women's Wrestling Revolution (WWR+) returned to action for the first time since June 30th, 2019. It was a night of cool surprises, awesome returns and hard hitting action that left this guy hoping for many more WWR+ events.

SURPRISES:

It was awesome to see Kaia McKenna get a chance to show up and show out on a big stage - and make no mistake, McKenna is a name that you'll hear a lot more often, soon. Her character out of the ring is set - both the Good Witch and the behind the scene's ass buster. When she finds her in ring voice forget it. And slowly, in the second half of the match with the little pit bull Kathleen, she was finding it.

Also great seeing Kennedi Copeland in a WWR ring - another woman on the edge of breaking out, she's made a name for herself on the Sean Henderson shows, battling legends like G-Raver - it's only a matter of time you'll be seeing her every weekend as well.

RETURNS:

Jody Threat returned to action in the states against Copeland and quickly reminded the United States wrestling scene why she's considered one of the best.

NEWCOMERS:

Someone who really caught my eye was Megan Bayne - the golden goddess, Megasus. I've never heard of her until tonight and by God did this woman grab my attention.

Confidence and poise in the ring, Bayne looks like a superstar already - and I think she made everyone on the WWR+ roster take notice today.

MATCH OF THE NIGHT:

The card was loaded with great matches - for me, it was the battle of Erica Leigh & Becca that really set the bar. Leigh is quickly rising to the top of indie wrestling in my opinion - there's just something about the way she tells a story in the ring. Some of the best facial reaction work and believable ring work I've seen.

Just a fun wrestler to watch.

There was honestly not a bad match on the card, for me ... and I can usually find something to dislike.

I could easily change my mind and say Willow Nightingale & Adora had match of the night - at one point, Nightingale slamming Trish on the hardest part of the ring apron - yet Adora finding the intestinal fortitude to bounce back for the victory.

Even the commentating, led by Paul Crockett & Alyssa Marino was great.

The only thing that ticked me off was the way Rickey Shane Page wears his hat.

GREAT NEWS:

WWR will return June 20th, leaving us with a little cliffhanger with Davienne coming out to "confront," Adora ...
