Indie Wrestling Spotlight: NWAPowerrr S4E1

Watch Last Nights Episode

The National Wrestling Alliance's "NWAPowerrr" entered it's fourth season with some big moments: namely, the announcement that they'll be running an all women's PPV booked by Mickie James.

James was recently released by WWE - you may remember that it made news by sending her belongings to her in a garbage bag? The aftermath was a ton of outrage by fans and the news that James had pushed for an all women's TV show on the WWE platform.

Well, the NWA is giving her the opportunity to run an all female show, "Empowerrr" on August 28th.

James, married to NWA Champ Nick Aldis, states she doesn't care if talent is signed or unsigned, she wants the cream of the crop.

Billy Corrigan also announced the women's PPV will be part of a weekend of PPV's, with NWA73 taking place the next day, August 29th in St. Louis.

THE HIGHS:

Trevor Murdoch's lost ...And when a dude like Murdoch is desperate, well, that's a dangerous dude.

I could get behind him just destroying people on his way to get to Nick - at this point, he seems to be the only realistic #1 contender in the NWA universe for the Ten Pounds of Gold.

Lady Frost appearing on NWA tv this week is definitely one of the big highlights for me - it's always really cool to see someone you've watched grow on the indie scene get these cool opportunities - it's like watching your kid hit the baseball for the first time or something.

THE LOWS:

Tyrus is still on my TV - the old adage "Bad press is better than no press," is no longer advised with the advent of social media, unless Billy wants to be P.T. Barnum.

There are plenty of big guys out there if that's what they are looking for - hell, Tyrus can't even work anymore; his match against Pope this past weekend was abysmal, and that's not fair to Pope, who's been a fine NWA Television champ.

THE WHYS:

No Kylie on the first show of the season? You want to book that first show after a PPV with as much dynamite as possible - And with the lack luster finish we got in the Aldis/Murdoch match on Sunday ...

They keep shooting themselves in the foot with horrible endings to decent shows. The coronation could have started Kamille's first championship feud - instead we get Melina (who no one wants to see) throw her shoes and a tantrum only to be interrupted by Jennacide ... who teases an attack but then just walks to the back.

I mean, I get the idea of "Keep them wanting more," but ... I don't want anymore of that.
