Ella Shae is someone that is a relative newcomer to
wrestling, but is already making a name for herself in companies like Camp
Leapfrog, 2PW, Eclipse Wrestling, and IWC.
She has trained out of Pittsburgh and has gained quite the reputation as
a fiery young woman that is never afraid to tell you exactly how she feels. Ella will give you the tea on
her talk show, Shade with Shae, or just tell it to your face when she steps in
the ring. I recently had the chance to
see Ella wrestle against Adena Steele for Eclipse wrestling and while she did
not come out on the wining end of that match, she was someone that you
definitely remembered when you left the building.
In the past year Ella has shared the ring with such stand
outs as Ray Lyn, Queen Aminata and Sam Adonis and she even helped Chase Gold
defeat Henry Godwinn. Ella also made her debut at Camp Leapfrog in a very
entertaining 6-person scramble match on the KillianVision show. Ella says that she has only done a little bit
of acting and ballet before training to be a wrestler, but she has really fit
in nicely with the theatrics of pro wrestling.
Ella was kind enough to answer a few questions for me about her career
so far and where she would like to go from here.
Don: You trained at the Iron City Wrestling Academy, which
put out people like Elias, Britt Baker and Joaquin Wilde. How did you hear about the school and was the
training what you expected it to be like?
Ella: I actually had a close friend going through the
academy (Chase Gold) and knew exactly what it was going in. The only thing
unexpected was the changes due to Covid cause like the rest of the world it was
unprecedented times.
Don: Pittsburgh has started putting out some really good women’s
wrestlers like Britt, Ray Lyn, Katie Arquette and Ziggy Hiam. Do you think that has helped motivate you and
help you get better quicker? Also, you
have been in the ring with some people that have a lot more experience, what
have you been able to learn from them and have they been willing to share their
knowledge with you?
Ella: Seeing some of the greatest women wrestlers come out
of Pittsburgh gives a drive to be just as good. Being able to work with Katie a
lot has made me a better wrestler in the end cause I find every time I get into
the ring with her I am learn something new and getting out of my comfort zone.
Raylyn is also a huge help. She has been in the business for awhile and has
been to places like Japan. Raylyn has taught me some of the things she has in
her arsenal as well as general advice.
Don: You have “The Shade with Shae.” Where did you come up with this idea and is
it something that you would like to do at live shows ala Pipers Pit or Miz TV?
Ella: Growing up I was obsessed with beauty gurus and their
drama channels. I pulled inspiration from both and if anyone know beauty gurus
you know they are messy and have a lot of tea to spill on them. Also, I would
like to point out where these drama channels and gurus got their inspiration
from and that is drag queens. In my adult life I have gotten more into things
like RuPauls Drag Race and have been inspired for some promos. I would
absolutely love for this to be like a Miz tv or Pipers Pit.
Don: You have a style that dare I say The Runway would even
approve of. Is there anything or anyone
that influences your style?
Ella: The show Scream Queens most definitely. The dream is
to own a closet like Channel Oberlin someday.
Don: You are partnered with Chase Gold in IWC and you make a
very entertaining pairing. Do you have a
little tea that you can spill on Chase?
Ella: I don’t spill tea unless I am given tea first but the
one I’m willing to share is he does actually smell amazing.
Don: In the scramble match that you were in on Camp Leapfrog
you had a really nice exchange with Charlie Kruel. Is that someone that you would like to have a
1 on 1 match against?
Ella: Oh absolutely I would love to get payback. I’ll take
any chance to show her a little dose of reali-tea.
Don: You have made a name for yourself in IWC and now Camp
Leapfrog. Are there any independent
companies that you really have your eye on that you would like to be part of?
Ella: Intergender Bonanza looks like a lot of fun. Honestly
anywhere and everywhere I can get my foot in the door. I would love to get onto
a female only show to meet more female wrestlers as well and just experience
that atmosphere.
Don: Lastly, for anyone that may not be familiar with you
can you describe Ella Shae in a few words for us?
Ella: If you want a red head full of sass and very
entertaining to watch look no further than here. Puns and tea are my two
favorite things. Rumor has it you’ll love me as much as everyone does cause I
am the “Hot Tea” after all.
