The Krude Experience - TNA-RIP?

TNA-RIP?

Recent pro wrestling news (via Internet sources) have WWE buying the entire TNA wrestling tape library or mutiny within the ranks of Total Nonstop Action wrestling's upper brass. Whether this is all true or just cheap publicity for both brands is to be seen. Until those facts can be officially confirmed, Krude would like to bring you back to 2006 and relive an interesting TNA wrestling house show card I attended in New Jersey.

Krude has a buddy that managed a porn shop in Wayne, NJ back in 2006. Somebody from Liberty States Wrestling asked my friend if they could place an advert card in the window of the porn shop to promote this local TNA wrestling card. That's how we became aware of this show.

A worker at the above mentioned porn shop came with us that night. My friend hired him because he looked exactly like Scott Steiner- blonde hair and facial hair, muscular build etc... And he was a major pro wrestling fan. Needless to say, we were quite the sight walking into the event. Young kids were asking the Steiner look a like for autographs. The wrestlers mingling around the gym took double or triple glances at us. Last I heard, the Steiner clone married a hooker and is living a peaceful existence. Godspeed.

What I remember the most about that show was the overall enthusiasm for the TNA product at the time. This was before Kurt Angle and the Hogan/Bischoff era of TNA. Samoa Joe got the biggest pops with the crowd chanting "Joe is gonna kill you" for most of the night. Local NJ wrestling hero Jay Lethal was there (with his mom working an angle). AJ Styles was met with a mild reaction. Some Attitude Era stalwarts like the New Age Outlaws played well with this crowd. I snapped a few pics that night with my favorite being Jeff Jarrett getting heckled by a dude in a Joe Montana jersey. Here is the card:

June 10, 2006 – TNA House Show (Liberty States Wrestling) in Wayne, New Jersey

Petey Williams b Shark Boy

Jerry Lynn b Homicide

Jeff Jarrett w/Simon Diamond b Jay Lethal in an open challenge (Jay Lethal’s mom jumped the rail and stopped Simon Diamond from interfering)

The James Gang (BG James & Kip James) b Team 3-D (Brothers Ray & Devon)

Tracy Brooks b Gail Kim with Shark Boy in a TNA Knockouts match

AJ Styles & Christopher Daniels b America’s Most Wanted (Chris Harris & James Storm) in a Non-title match

Samoa Joe b Abyss and Rhino in a 3-WAY Monster’s Ball match

I hope Billy Corgan (or whoever can handle getting legit potatoed backstage) can repackage the existing TNA roster and create real competition to WWE. The years between 1996-2000 were the absolutely greatest years pro wrestling ever had. WWF, WCW, and ECW were all in their prime. And all of it was 'must watch'. Jeff Jarrett's current Global Force Wrestling doesn't seem like it will be anything but third rate, rec hall pro wrestling. So we can only hope for a new TNA to cause some ripples in the pro wrestling waters. Talent needs to be exploited. And given solid storylines.

Hey Vince, bring back the curbstomp. Rollins' Pedigree part 2 ain't cutting for Krude.

Never a false finish
