Time for another episode of IMPACT Wrestling!
IMPACT opens with a look at last weeks Tessa vs Taya World Title main event, and we get right to tonight's first contest!
Madman Fulton vs Rhino
OVE came to the ring with Fulton, but referee Mike Posey ejected them from ringside before the match even started. Fulton controlled the match early. A missed headbutt allowed Rhino to make a comeback. Fulton missed a crossbody from the top, and Rhino followed up with a Gore for the win. The Crist brothers immediately hit the ring and laid out Rhino. The lights went out, and Sabu appeared in the ring. Rhino and Sabu stood tall to end the segment. Good match, but a little short. I'm okay with Rhino, but I don't need to see Sabu wrestle in 2020. Good start to the show though. Winner: Rhino
Chris Bey vignette!! He debuts NEXT WEEK!!!!!
Gabby backstage with Tessa. Gabby ask her about Mike vs Elgin. She says it doesn't matter who wins. She's leaving Rebellion as champ.
We go to Josh and Don. They hype the rest of tonight's show. We have Eddie vs Big Mike and Jordynne Grace vs an opponent of Madison Rayne's choosing.
Desi Hit Squad vs The Rascalz
The Hit Squad is represented by Shera and Rohit, and Dez and Wentz are out for the Rascalz. DHS looked really good early. I've finally started to come around on them in the last month or so. Dez and Wentz make a comeback. Both men hit dives on Shera for the win. Another good, but quick match. Would have liked that one to go longer. Winner: The Rascalz
RVD and Katie backstage. The Deaners are backstage as well. Katie throws away her old top, and Cody says she looked good in it. Joey steps up to "defend" Katie. It will be RVD and Joey vs The Deaners next week. I'm liking this new Joey.
Tenille vignette. She'll be back soon.
Jordynne Grace vs Lacey Ryan
Madison comes out and announces Lacey Ryan as Jordynne's opponent. Good debut for Lacey. She matched power with the champ early, and even got in some offense on Grace. Jordynne quickly too over, but couldn't put Lacey away with a Vader Bomb or a Muscle Buster. Lacey almost won with a frog splash, but Jordynne kicked out. The champ won with a Grace Driver. Really good match! Winner: Jordynne Grace
Fallah and TJP are backstage. They say they're going to be the first Filipino Tag Champs.
This weeks IMPACT Plus Flashback Moment of the Week is a Ultimate X match between Chris Sabin, Low Ki, Christopher Daniels, and Michael Shane from 1-7-04.
Speaking of Sabin, he is backstage with Gabby. Sabin will be the referee in the King of the Mountain match at the TNA show Mania weekend. Moose interrupts and says he will become World Champ. Sabin has to explain the rules of KOTM to Moose. Very funny segment.
Next is a video package recapping the Elgin and Eddie feud.
Taya is at a bar somewhere. She's crying about losing. Rosemary is also there. She says that they have both lost everything. Looks like they might be teaming up.
Johnny Swinger and Glenn Gilbertti vs Willie Mack
I'm just not that into Swinger and Disco. Disco and Swinger use a ton of underhanded tactics to gain the advantage on Willie. Ace Austin runs down and stands in Willie's corner. Willie tags in Ace, and they work as a team. Ace hits The Fold on Disco, and Willie hits the frog splash for the win. Not much of a match, but I'm very interested in a Willie and Ace story. Winners: Willie Mack and Ace Austin
Havok is walking backstage, and Su attacks her. They start brawling with chairs. Su uses the bloody glove to put the mandible claw on Havok, and Su puts Havok in the coffin.
We go to Swinger and Gilbertti backstage. They argue about who's at fault for losing the match.
Gut Check time. Again, they just show highlights. The contestants were part of a six man tag match. The full Gut Check episode is available on IMPACT Plus.
Next week the winner of Gut Check will be announced. Ken Shamrock returns next week as well. Josh and Don were interrupted by an ICU graphic again. Main event time!!
Match #5 in the Best of Five Series (Series tied 2-2): Michael Elgin vs Eddie Edwards
Match gets off to a very hot start, with both men charging at each other at the opening bell. Both men gave it their all in this one. Very back and forth early. As the whole series has shown, it was Mike's power vs Eddie's speed. Honestly, I could watch Eddie and Elgin exchange strikes all day long. Elgin hit a Dragon Suplex from the top rope, but Eddie somehow kicked out. Eddie hit a Tiger bomb for a two count. Elgin hit the buckle bomb/Elgin bomb combo, but Eddie kicked out! Elgin inadvertently took out the ref. Eddie hit the Boston Knee Party, but by the time a second ref made it to the ring, Elgin was able to kick out at two. Elgin had Eddie in a crossface. Eddie rolled Elgin up, while in the crossface. One ref counted Elgin out, but the other ref said Eddie tapped out. While the referees and Scott D'More are discussing the result, Tessa comes out and says she'll face both of them at Rebellion. No Contest?
Despite having Sabu and Disco on the same show, I really enjoyed tonight's episode. The Knockouts Division is really good right now. I really like the Grace-Madison story and the Havok-Su story. Plus Taya and Rosemary teaming up is an interesting wrinkle. Wish the main event had a clean ending, especially since it was the last match of the series. I hate investing so much time into a story just for both guys to win. Tessa vs Elgin vs Eddie should be really good though. Chris Bey next week!!
