Beer, sex, pizza and potato chips. I usually have about 3 or 4 bags of various flavored potato chips in my house at one time. Sometimes you want to spice up the chip game and throw some dip into the mix and guys, Dean's has upped the chip dip game.
I procured four flavors of their "Sports Bar" Dairy Dip - so I guess they are more geared towards bar foods maybe, but I pared them with the very basic stylings of Lay's classic chips so i could get the maximum flavor out of the dips.
The flavors are Deep Fried Pickle, Spicy Nashville Hot, Tangy Buffalo Wing and Classic Pepperoni Pizza.
Going into the tasting I had reservations about the Nashville Hot. I've simply never had anything good when replicating the taste of Nashville Hot; it normal tastes of just salt and chicken bouillon cubes.
I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor profiles found in this dip. Unfortunately, It wasn't "spicy," at all. Though, that could be because I've been eating devil level heat for the last twenty years of my life.
If you know me, than you probably think I'd favor the flavors found in the classic pepperoni dip - sadly, this
is the one I disliked the most. Now, I didn't hate it. It wasn't awful. It just didn't stand out among the other three flavors.
The winner for me was the tangy buffalo. I've never had a chip be able to capture that wing feeling you get when you're at your local dive bar slammin beers and slangin wings. My daughter had to physically stop me from eating the whole fucking container.
I had originally put deep fried pickle as my winner, but as I sat here contemplating the top 4, I decided that by virtue of being able to find really great pickle flavored chips, that the buffalo wing dip deserved the number one spot.
And yes, this is serious business man. Snacking is all that is keeping a lot of us sane in this crazy fucking world, and I can't afford cocaine or heroin to kill the pain so here we are.
