Malt Beverage Of The Week - Steel Reserve Spiked Mystery

It was in September 2020 that the Steel Reserve Alloy Series announced they were releasing a new "Spiked Mystery" flavor, and if you could correctly guess the new flavor, you would have the chance to win $10K. Now here we are over six months later, the contest has ended, and I just finally got my hands on a can of the new flavor. Already knowing the mystery flavor does take away from some of the fun of giving it a try and guessing for the first time, but here we are and we are still going to drink it anyway!

SPOILER: It's Spiked Tangerine

Upon opening the can and pouring it out into a glass you get the fruit smell, but it comes out almost clear. You know they were trying to disguise the flavor by taking out any color that could give it away, but with the first taste you could get a tropical flavor right away. Hard to pinpoint if I would think of it as tangerine or mango if I didn't already know the reveal, but those would have been my top two choices. It comes in at the standard Steel Reserve Alloy Series 8.0% ALC/VOL and goes down pretty smooth. Overall a sold offering from Steel Reserve. It still hasn't made it's way to their official beverage lineup on their site yet, but the Spiked Tangerine cans have been spotted in stores, so they are out there!
