August is here, training camps are open, and the 2021 NFL season is right around the corner! This upcoming NFL season will be unique, as the regular season will now be 18 weeks with the preseason cut from 4 games to 3. Will this change bring even greater riches to the NFL? Time will tell, but I don't think there's much doubt about that. Having more meaningful games means there's more money to be made inside and outside of the league when it comes to sports betting. The State of New Jersey ended 2020 with the highest annual sports betting handle ($6 billion) in all of America. This brings their total handle to $15 billion and a total revenue of over $1 billion! With the NFL season starting in a couple weeks, we are most definitely going to see 2021 end on a high note.
We wrapped up the 2020 NFL season with Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as the Super Bowl LV champions, but it's the Kansas City Chiefs that are the current favorites going into the 2021 season. Will the Chiefs be able to recover from their Super Bowl defeat and be top contenders again? Will we see a Super Bowl LV repeat matchup? Will Krude make it out to Vegas again for the big game? Only time will tell.
There was a whole lot of moving and shaking around the league in the offseason, with some old faces in new places, and a whole new crop of new talent coming in from this years NFL draft. Did the New York Jets finally find their QB of the future? Or will this be just be another stop on the never ending QB train. Time to load up on the Night Train Express! All aboard!
